Alright, then, let's say a few things on Mirage.
1. She is a miraj, a species of predatory horned rabbit-like creatures appearing in Arabic poetry.
2. Despite the ferocious demeanor of her species, she’s actually really friendly and cordial to most people she meets. She does lament her species reputation making mortals either wary or outright hostile to her, though she admits it’s for good reason.
3. She is considered a low-ranking Celestial entity in-universe.
4. Despite her small size, she’s a big eater, and will be happy with anything edible. Only exceptions are black licorice, which she pretty much views as an unholy abomination, and lapin meat, as while she’s technically neither, she feels that it’s way too wrong-feeling.
5. Has had a love of martial arts since she was a kit, and has worked hard in perfecting her style. She’s made quite a name for herself in both mortal and Celestial tournaments, the latter of which she’s still climbing up the ranks.
6. She has a more powerful form that she can transform to at will, but it can also be brought out in the off-chance she becomes enraged. In that case, she takes a more feral approach in combat. She prefers to keep it hidden, and ended up revealing this form to her boyfriend, Macabre, when she was standing up for him to a group of hecklers. After a brief moment of shock, though, he was fine with the form, to Mirage’s relief.
7. She had a previous boyfriend, a horse named Barry. However, they called off the relationship when both realized that it just wasn’t growing, so they decided on a mutual break, hoping to remain friends afterwards. Didn’t happen, as both still feel really awkward around each other.
8. Like all Celestial entities, she has a level of shape-shifting abilities, though she nearly never uses them, as she prefers a form she already knows. Most she’ll do is retract her spikes to appear less threatening and so she doesn’t end up impaling anyone she decides to hug. She’ll sometimes forget when she gets emotional, though. Macabre has been exposed to such an event more than once. It helps being immortal, but doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.
9. She’s not too bad of a singer. Though rare, she sometimes sings to some of the songs that Macabre plays.
10. Sometimes if she gets especially bored, she’ll host her own tournaments for the fun of it. If mortals get involved, she’ll try to take extra precautions in making sure they stay safe.
BONUS TRIVIA
1. She was almost a manticore. Upon deciding a celestial character for a possible future project, I suggested manticore for the unique design. Shot down by CrazyRatopia for being too similar to Nue, who is in Tails of Babylon. Quick browse of a list of mythical creatures on Wikipedia, stumbled upon the miraj.
2. Her name is also due to CrazyRatopia. I was at a complete loss for her name, and he seemed to have just decided on a pun. I liked it enough to stick with it.
3. She was also single for a really long time. Listening to certain songs and having a desire to have someone to play off of her personality for a while eventually led to the creation of Macabre.
4. She initially had two shoulder spikes in her original “recolor” concept, where I make a rough draft for a character using existing art from the Houspets! Webcomic. Nearly all of these OCs were done in this way initially, before I decided to do my own art to improve my own skills. CHAOKOCartoons is responsible for omitting them when he sketched up a more official design, and I think it was a good idea. Said spikes are now on her powered-up form, which I still need to draw myself.
