Macabre’s typical appearance sticks out like a sore thumb, so when he was finally convinced to change his looks to blend in, he had to ditch the outer ribs, bone brace, and helmet.

The problem immediately arose regarding the fact that he’s pretty uncomfortable without his helmet around most people. It makes him pretty anxious. A compromise was found in the form of a masquerade mask.
