Description
Hi everyone,
here is my first artwork for 2019! I am so happy I finished this before January ended as a goal I have for this year is to get at least one artwork completed each month (not sure how I'll go when I return to uni but I'm going to try my best). This artwork was an interesting journey for me, originally I was going to do the lemurs without any intense magical elements, however as the painting progressed my mind got curious and I played around with wings and then eventually the idea did evolve (spiral haha) into a magical one and honestly I am so glad it did because I think this is one of my favourite paintings yet.
I experimented with some different brushes this time too (If I remember the source I will add it) and I really like the rough texture I was able to achieve in particularly the tree branches so i think for now I will expand my use of brushes in the future
.
I'm also making these guys into actual characters/creatures of mine that I may consider painting in future artworks. I would really like to build up a list of my own characters this year as a fun project to really push my designs a bit further
Small description about Ringtail Fairies (may change name to something a bit more creative)
- Their eyes flicker from a bright orange to an array of iridescent colours depending on their mood
- They are shy creatures and earning their trust is challenging. But they are also very curious creatures who like investigating.
- They usually travel in pairs or more but never alone (they like the company of their own kind)
- They live in dense forests
- They are extremely intelligent and are good at being sneaky despite their beautiful bright colours
- They enjoy eating fruits, berries and honey
- They have amazing eyesight
- They are generally peaceful animals and will not attack you unless they are provoked
- When they fly they leave glittering dust particles in a trail behind them.
Might come up with more if I develop the character further
