4.1 - Bell Ringing
Naturally the night was cold. Likely colder than any of the shinobi had ever felt, and definitely colder than Shio could have ever imagined. Even for a man who could sleep anywhere the night had been a challenge. Even curled up by the fire he just could not shake that chill from his bones. He didn’t like being all touchy with people either so huddling up wasn’t an option. Laid there in the cold Shio had truly expected to die in the night. At that point he wondered whether he would welcome it. But that was too dramatic even for him.
Despite a fairly sleepless night Shio roused himself along with the others. The presence of Miyu and Akebono at the camp the night before had lifted his spirits somewhat so it was easier to push on through the rest of the trail than it would have been otherwise. Trudging through the snow towards the narrowing path, Shio looked over his shoulders for a sign of one of the friendly Hitoyo.
“Psst, come walk next to me.”
