After looking at this a second or third time, i have also come to the conclusion that this is a very fractal steampunk look. and again i really like it.

It's really nice to see there are people like you on dA, who don't simply "fav and run", but come back regularly to the things they like (that's what I try to do as well). And of course, thanks very much for the compliment, I really appreciate it. :-)

Wow nice title. It really captures the mood of the piece. I love the difference between this and your usual style, and I like the contrast between the red and black, with the bit of white on the top right. You really captured the message of your news article!

I agree it doesn't look like a typical Apophysis fractal. I have used one the 2.08 variations in a very unorthodox way to simulate "pencil strokes", this is one of the things that give it this particular look. It's still very experimental though, and I'm not sure I will be able to use this technique on different types of fractals.

Thanks very much for your kind comment!

Really nice colors and lighting Luc. :+fav: I'm wondering what it would look like if you applied the rule of thirds to the composition (instead of aligning the yellow light in the vertical center, moving it to a third of the distance from the left )

This is not possible because the fractal generates really awful "projections" out of the frame, but :shh:, no one knows! :D Sometimes we can't do exactly what we want with fractals...

Thanks for your kind comment, Sasha!

I'm always impressed by this style of Apophysis, where it's less about the individual pixel detail and more about the overall feel and look of the piece. The colors are great, and the bolt of yellow at the bottom is very striking.

Reminds me of the inside of a carwash (although I've never been in one ), but washing with fire instead of water. Definitely a move towards the textures of traditional
