Rosetta Riccia by cwicseolfor Rosetta Riccia by cwicseolfor
Nothing too unusual or surprising from me, but the ribbons came together so beautifully in this photo I couldn't help but post it, and I suppose it's a good idea to demonstrate that I'm still working now and then.

A friend wanted a pearlescent black Rosetta with a design across the cheeks; I felt the dimensional curling design, gunmetal black finish, and satin ribbons came together prettily, and it'll match any outfit well. Naturally, "any outfit" wasn't specific enough for my brain, and I've been trying to persuade her that a gypsy-themed costume, preferably with some ruffled red flower like a peony in her hair, would be an ideal Halloween costume, and that it'd go exceedingly well with an upswept hairstyle and a bare-shouldered black evening dress. Sometimes I think it would be better if my imagination would spend more of its time trying to design costumes for me, rather than begging me to tell friends what it thinks THEY ought to wear...

Thanks very much! Scrollwork's both a lot of fun and miserable, because it's great to design and a pain to apply. Thus anytime people pay attention to it I get a kick out of it. ^-^ Sorry to get back to you so late, life's nuts! x.x

That textured design is lovely.

I think this would also work quite well with a renfair style outfit, leather bodice kind of deal.

(Better costumes for friends, I end up designing doll costumes!)

I'm pleased it's gone over well. I didn't even consider it - but it'd probably be a great piece for a Pendragon bodice or similar. (Of course, I'll probably be getting something even more elaborate together for my next personal 'little black mask'... the old costume plans haven't given up on me yet, bad scheduling or no.) Glad you had the thought!

And as for designing for others - I think better the dolls. Dolls have the temperament you assign them, or at least they don't typically disagree with your designs. Worst of all, you can't exorcise the bug without dragging someone else into it...

You'd be suprised about dolls, they choose their own personalities ;) But you're right about not being able to argue. And most of my friends aren't much of the costume type. So any ideas there would be wasted!

Very nice as usual! I am curious though since you mentioned you designed it for a friend, is this the one I saw Stephanie asking you about on Facebook?

Indeed! She left campus much earlier than I did in December, and I wasn't sure when she was leaving (mea culpa), so I didn't get to deliver it until she came back over to this side of the pond. There are some upsides to that, though - we got to lure her down to our part of town to hang out (and she had my book as further leverage. Muahahaha.)
I'm gonna have to beg you for the last of the info on your designs sometime. I'll send you a message from my Y! address to make sure we can communicate while I'm in Taiwan ^-^

*facepalms* I am ALWAYS forgetting about those commissions. So much going on to distract me from things like that.

Anyways, when you send the message, make sure you include the bits that you still need from me so I can jump on that ASAP (actualy, I do know I still need to get info from Tiffy, but I can't remember if there's anything else you still needed).

Thanks very much! (I'd certainly like to think it would. Partly, though, I just wish I had her hair! I could never pull it off myself. ^-^) Glad you liked it!

Thanks! Sounds like a great dress. I think an outfit in a uniform shade with a mask could be intriguing, it'd bring out the contrast of skin and hair in interesting ways.

I have to say, I miss actually being there and watching you work late into the night.

Heehee. I did SOME of this during DAYLIGHT, believe it or not. But yeah, if I get down to your neck of the woods anytime soon I'll drag you over and caffeinate you silly on tea and tie you to a blue colored pencil until you produce a sketch of the mask you want. That way you'll have a guaranteed opportunity to watch me work into the dawn and past. Or play Psychonauts until I can quote it all again ^-^ Oh, and I have a movie you oughta watch. If the images and plot and whatnot don't get you into a mood to sketch, the music well might...

Sure sounds like Finnish, and that's what the comments/description seem to say. It looks awesome. o_o

It seems to have snow in it. That makes it better.

Finnish and Mandarin Chinese. Which is to say, distilled linguistic bliss.
There's some snow in it, but the whole movie looks cold to me, snow or not. I suspect you might enjoy it, between that and the tone and the music ^-^ I'll probably be down there sometime in September for interview purposes...
