DS4P -> Reality/LuxRender to 500S/p

Using a noise map for displacement didn't quite work for the fur on the outfit -- some of the stems came out flatish along the edges. Once LAMH 1.1 is released, I'll have a go at using it to do a better fur for this outfit.

I think the "fur" looks lovely :thumbsup:. Did you apply it to the object itself or use a separate object?

The displacement map is applied to one of the surfaces of the bolero top.  It's basically a noise map with fairly strong contrast between the tall and shallow dots.  And I tiled it a couple times to make the dots noise even finer.

That's very interesting. I always split the selected polygons away from the object to make a new object and then subdivide the new object to make it easier to displace (Your results are fantastic if the fur is on the object itself!) - I bake everything to an OBJ file before I decide to render it so it's much easier to cut and move.

Well, when exporting to LuxRender, each mat zone becomes its own geometry shape.  So you can subdivide just the surfaces that require it.  The fur surface in that render was subdivided to around 1.5mil tris, if I recall correctly.
