The Score in Blue by cutelightangel The Score in Blue by cutelightangel
I have a lot of things to say about this piece of work.

First of all, let's start with the name of this artwork. The title is similar to one of the songs in La Corda D'Oro (which I like very much). However, it wasn't an immediate choice. Usually I already think of a name for my artwork while I am completing them. This time, however, I didn't. So I had to think very hard of a suitable name.

Next, I guess that you'll notice how weird the hands are angled and how they are drawn. Yes, they look weird. I tried copying the pose from a reference but it came out much different (and I don't have much energy left to fix it. Shall see if I ever decided to fix it.)

And then, on to the clouds and the sea. I repainted them twice because I wasn't satisfied. I looked a few artwork on dA to see how they coloured the sea, but gave up trying to copy them (because it's complicated!). I tried to draw them my own way :)

I shall give up naming new OCs simply because I like experimenting with different hair and eye colour combinations. I can't go around creating different OCs just because they have different hair and eye colours, can I? Otherwise I'll end up with so many OCs and I wouldn't be able to keep track of them.

The time I took for this artwork is average by my standards, took about 6-7 hours spread over 2 days (including the time used to do random stuff in between). Anyway, I'm slowwwww..... Trying to vary the thickness of lineart using a mouse is slowing me down even more. Maybe I'll switch to a tablet soon ...

Everytime I'm feeling lazy and decide not to correct any details, I'll look at Pinlin's art and try to convince myself to make the effort. It usually helps.

That's all you'll hear from me now. Bye ~

As usual the consept is really good, with only very minor flaws that most ppl do in the beginning :). The first thing i noticed was that the hand he is holding the violin is bended the wrong and you should see the back of the hand instead of seeing the fingers. Other then that i really like the hair coloring and the scenery is as always really nice done. :)

Thank you for pointing that out. I knew something was wrong (as usual) but couldn't point it out exactly.
As for the concept, I just combined whatever I thought of. I wanted to do a picture of someone playing an instrument (piano, violin and drums were considered) and initially decided on a boy playing violin in a garden. I tried out a rough sketch but it didn't look right. Then I remembered your suggestion about doing something summer-related a while ago, and just combined both ideas together ~

Glad that you liked it. I did make more adjustments and corrections than usual, but I'm glad that it was worth it.
