Okay guys I need your help here--

Sat Oct 11, 2014, 11:11 AM

It's nothing essential but it's still rlly important to me so pls aekjhfaejklaeg--

well- as some of you might know, I'm planning on doing a year abroad in 11th grade. I always thought it'd be clear that I'm going to go to the US & do a year abroad there but now my friend's been on a exhibition for year abroads and she brought some magazines for me (since I was in Rome).

So now
there's this wonderful country standing in 2 of the 3 magazines
Japan
yes
I
amg my heart cries--
I want to go there so badly??!

But then again my sister actually wants me to go to the US so I can learn speaking English properly and getting relations & so on

But-- idk.. I rlly would rather go to Japan.
Unfortunately my sister's kinda scary to me xD Like- I barely dare to object things she says..

So now I need some rlly good arguments for Japan and against the US </3 Or maybe the other way around so I forget going to Japan?? xD//
I'd so love to go to both but since it's like- double expensive & pretty complicated about scholarships.. I don't know.. ;;

Tysm in advance!!!

oh & btw, my parents are Chinese --> dislike Japanese
I'm rlly lucky that they already tolerate me liking Jap stuff (music, anime) and me learning Japanese ;;;

edit//: sorry, I'm going to try objecting your arguments so I know what I could use for asking my family.. It's not that I don't want to go to Japan okay ;;;;<//3

edit2//: tbh I'm not sure myself whether I want to go to Japan or the US!!
Like- I find Japan more interesting but idk- I might regret my decision afterwards, if I went to Japan?! Not the fact that I went to Japan but the fact that I didn't go to the US ;; for English </3

WWWWeeeeelllllll..... :3
You could go to Japan, but you need to think about what you're doing to prepare yourself for a career....(Not saying that going to Japan WON'T get you one!) Would you be doing something that involves Japanese, knowledge of their culture, foods, ect.?

And you could come to America but....Well, idk i'm going to be biased here and say i hate America X3 I've lived here all my life and i really just want to leave....(MEME REFERENCE INBOUND) "Need a school? Why not Canada?"

Wellll
I'll just do a little pro & contra thing here okay xD//
US
PRO
a) I could learn (especially talking) English
b) The US is a place I want to go to at least one time in my life
c) No need to "get used to" a complete unknown culture (since it's kind of similar to west europe's)
d) There are full-scholarships available

CON
a) There are a lot of different dialects so proper English might be hard to learn?
b) There's marked racism in some places
c) Since the culture is kinda similar to west europe's, I wouldn't meet a new culture
d) Can't choose the place I go to (choosing would make everything about 5000€ more expensive)
e) The thing about the guns in the US
f) I'd need to go into the church every sunday and tbh I don't like church that much--//diesdies
g) hurricanes (depends on the place I'd go to actually buuuut since I can't choose-)

Japan
PRO
a) It's kinda more interesting to me
b) I could learn Japanese
c) A new culture I can learn about
d) It's a place I want to go to at least once in my life
e) I could choose at least the region (tokyo, kyoto, 3 other regions I forgot just now)

CON
a) I wouldn't be able to learn English as well as in the US
b) There are earth quakes and typhoons
c) I need to get into a rlly rlly new culture to me
d) I need to learn Japanese from almost 0
e) There are no full-scholarships available (only part-scholarships)
f) idk about the racism in Japan but since I'm Chinese idk-- ;;

Well you need to be able to speak at least some of the Japanese language or you will have no idea what's going on ahaha simple words and phrases aren't really enough. Sentence structures and personal conversations need to be recognised if not spoken. I'd say it'd be really hard work going to Japan, but I'm not saying you shouldn't.
You don't sound that interested in the trip to the US tbh but I think it'd be a good opportunity to touch up on your English. Maybe you should try studying Japanese a bit more and studying the culture before throwing yourself into something so extremely different to what western countries are used to.

You don't need to listen to me, but I'm trying to help, honest ;u ;

Both trips sound brilliant, but you have to think about it a bit more. Maybe talk to people you know about it and ask their opinion ?? ?

I've never been to Japan before, but some of the cons in the US are: traffic, manners (not everyone is polite, some are jerks), fast food is not a plus (neither healthy nor faster). So if you go to study in the US you might have trouble because:
A) a lot of people don't know proper English grammar even
B) you'll have to make food from scratch (idk if it's a problem with you)
C) deal with people who are racist, prejudice and don't particularly like minorities. (White Americans especially)

I'm not trying to be difficult. Honestly, I would do anything to go to Japan. I've heard they're a gorgeous country to visit. There are always mountains to see.
Me, here in the middle of the US, haven't seen a mountain or the ocean in my life. But that's because I've never gone out of central US.

Another thing would be what you want to see when you're there. There are tons of places in the US: Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Great Lakes, and a whole lot of others. The cost for seeing all of them would be significantly higher than seeing all the sights in Japan. Probably.

I hope this helps, sorry if it doesn't. v.v

Ohhh I see!! amgg ;;

ahh yeahh the sights, too!! But I'm not sure about sights in the US since I wouldn't even be allowed  to choose the place I go to -> might be a small town that nobody knows -> no sights?! //

My parents are also Chinese //slapped
But they don't majorly dislike Japanese? Just lecture me on wars and revolutions and stuff I guess.
I have two older cousins who visited Japan and came back with extensive knowledge of the history and language and a lot of souvenirs.
They tell me you have to bow a lot, use honorifics, be polite overall. You can still learn a bit of English there, but not too fluently.
For the US, the main thing people worry about is the stereotypical 'violent nature' thing. I don't know much about the US, but they all have different accents and slangs and whatnot, so it might still be difficult to learn proper English there.
Just try and do that thing where you go "it's my future" and "you can't boss me around forever", blah blah. If your parents are worrying, just say something along the lines of "people and countries change", "that was last century", something like that. Don't worry about earthquakes or tornadoes, I mean, yes, you should worry, but every country has its fair share of natural disasters, so it can't be helped.
If you really need help with English, you could always talk to native-english speakers online like me.

Okay, well here is the #1 question to ask yourself.
Do you just want to go to Japan because you want to be closer to MAFU and the all the things there, or do you genuinely love the culture and the traditions there?

See that's the question here. If you go to Japan because you want to have fun, then your not really benefiting from it other than just spending your money there. But if your're going to US you can learn English as well as have fun at the same time. Well depends on where you go that it. I think if you learn english, work hard to a career you can get the money quick to go and visit Japan :)

I'd honestly love to go to japan.... I really hate it here[ lives in the U.S. apparently ]
Though i'm going Japan next year and i'm impatiently waiting~
South Korea is a dream too |DD but i think i'll be drooling all the smexy men there <3 xD

Oh well that's what I'm doing tbh xD//
I think
I do both
well- I don't want to go there to be closer to mafu at all
like- it doesn't make any difference, I probably won't be able to come only into his near so this is probably not the thing ;;
I think I rather want to go there because the place is rlly interesting to me. I want to learn their language and their culture. I think....//dies

But on the other hand it's the same to the US? ;; But personally I prefer Japan because my life's full of anime & manga stuff you know- I barely watch movies that come from the US so it's hard for me to say that I'm interested in american culture ;;
But then again- English.. ;;

I wonder whether I only want to visit Japan or whether I actually want to "know" Japan if you know what I mean aejfhaelfae
I don't know myself wahhh////diesdies

amgg ;;;; WHY WOULD YOU HATE IT?? ;;;;

Awww! I'm sure he will be lurking somewhere! I mean, like you may never know when you see an idol is shopping in a market or buying clothes in clothes shop! xDD // i'[ve seen this happen to people but never happens to me before ;;;;A;; // crais a river.
Hmmm I see..
Do enjoy or get happy when ever you see something new or interesting from the Japanese culture?
If you do, then yes you genuinely want to go there because you find it intriguing.

lol I understand where your coming from here. I don't really keep up with the US even though I live here xDD
US is boring lol trust me!! unless you want hear rap and bla bla bla drama crap :\

I understand what you mean. My Japanese teacher asked me that all the time. and I still ask myself this question, but I still don't know the answer. I'm still confused in a way....

Well in the US, not to discourage you or anything, but a lot of people judge you by appearance and a lot of people are racist. I'm actually from Hawaii, and I respect people for who they are because all of us here are mixed xD but when I travel to the mainland(upper states that's on north america) there where a lot of experience that I had where people are just plain rude and just racist. and really really creepy e-e i'd honestly never forget that night I went to Vegas.... Also the drama...... the DAMN DRAMA. UGHklajdfklasjf it's like people need to make things their business...

lol yea.... I've lived long enough(not really lol) to know that there are really irritating people out there. There are FEW nice people..... most of the time the teacher are just straight up ---B*tches //lol sorry for that, but they are.
OMG OF COURSE!!!! and IF I SPY MAFU I'LL BE SURE TO TAG YOU!!!! But it's still a long way to raise money for japan. ;^;

LOL even with a new hair cut and color, I don't think I CAN NEVER FORGET HIS FACE!
//lol yes you love Japan then xD

I guess it can be exciting? It just depends on where you go really. I guess everywhere has a lot of rude/racist people .__. it's really hard to find the people that are like really nice to you ;u;
Well you are still young, and you will have a lot of time ahead of you to become what you want to be. OMG A SEIYUUUUUU!!!>!!>!!!!! // gonna stalk you if you do~ // production/works wise ;y;

Well, the Japanese and the Chinese Language are the same.... Ohhh I forgot about that thing in Japan.... Well what my sensei told me while he always visited Japan(he like visits there every year seriously xD he's so lucky!!) anyways, he always says that the Japanese culture is really strict. For example, he says that the tradition doesn't allow any foreigners to participate in Japanese customs. Like for example foreigners cant go and see a geisha dance, once before he said that foreigners weren't allowed to celebrate the same holidays as to what the Japanese do like the hana matsuri and sometimes the obon festival. It's kind of sad because most of the Japanese people actually are friendly if your a foreigner // unless you see a Yakuza, then you'd better run away.

But my sensei says that the culture is slowly changing and growing.... but because of the chemical spill / waste that happened in japan a few years ago, it makes me afraid to go to japan. IDk how the chemical will affect me actually. I heard that you could die from it ;A;

eee you sureee?? xDD idk-- I don't rlly-- idk ;; amg ;;; what is life ahhaH//

Oh I see awhhh// I guess so!! ; U ;
But like- there's the price, too? Like- if I choose a programme where I can choose the school I want to go to in the US, I need to pay like 4.000€ more.. and I don't rlly want to end up in some rlly tiny town that nobody knows xD// In Japan I think I can choose between Tokyo, Kyoto and 3 other regions ; U ;
WELL BUT TIME DOESN'T STOP FOR ME SO I SLOWLY HAVE TO COME UP WITH A FUTURE PLAN?? ;;;
YESssss SEIYUUUU BUT LIKE I HAVE NO TALENT FOR ACTING SO--//STABBED
HHHH I GAINED A NEW SEMI-STALKER * Q *//

Ahh-- you think so?? I think that japanese and chinese are not rlly the same xD Only the kanji xD
Ohhhh rlly?! amg ;;; that's rlly sad D: Why are foreigners not allowed though?? ;; I want to---//dies
hahhha xDD//

Ohh I see!! Well- the chemical spill thing was like one time I think; now they're going to be even more careful.
And heyyy it's better to have been in Japan & die then instead of dying without having seen Japan, isn't it??//stabbed

I'd really love to go to Hokkaido.... or Sapporo <33 I don't want to go to croded cities like tokyo xD but SHIBUYA AND HARAJUKU. Peeps will find me there x'D
AHHHHHGGGGGGG yes, I hate that. the fee's and the extra charges are really damn annoying. I hate it too. Even though I practically live here, I have to pay ridiculously high fees ugh = n=

LOOOOOOOL It's okay *U* akldfjaklsjdgaklsdja SEIYU'S actualyl become models maybe. Well maybe xDD I always see some of my seiyu's in model or 'whats new' magazines . u.
<333 feeel the love <333

Lol well yea, but the pronunciation of some words are the same. But if you where to ask me, Taiwanese is WORSE. it's like the combination of Japanese and Chinese |DD it's kind of confusing to learn really.... akjfdsa

LOL well if you ever looked or studied about Japan's history. In that past, Japan wanted to be that #1 nation that ruled all. They practically invaded many nations near them such as Scotland and the Philippians so that they can take over their country. They wanted power...... but once they started war with the US.... all that practically when down hill. But anyways, from the beginning, japan doesn't open doors to foreigners because their afraid of foreigner to take over their country. But over the years they decided to steal the technology from foreigners and make money off of it. It's why Japan is like the #1 technology place ever. But a lot of things changed, IDK what it's like now though. But I think it should ALMOST be safe, since Japan is not allowed to have any weapons.

Ah well yes, but it still affect's the food and the air there... so i'm not really sure.
LOL and yes, I would rather go to Japan and die there then not seeing Japan at all :)

Well, you would since most countries use English nowadays. BUT it's true that you can learn and practice English EVERYWHERE. Plus, Japan has an English subject too (though it's not that... eh, you know.). It's two in one! I don't know what your job will be in the future, but if there's a Japanese-speaking client, you can be relied on.

It's not like everyone is comfortable with English.

And it's safer and less wild in Japan.

Except they have earthquakes and landslides... it also rains quite a lot...

And they have plenty of traditions you have to follow...

But there's tornadoes and hurricanes in U.S too...

But it depends on which part of either countries you're in anyways.

...

I don't know why I'm even trying to reason with the same excuse as everyone else's. ;w;
