Fossil (Fuel) by CuriousObjects Fossil (Fuel) by CuriousObjects
When the last drop of oil on earth is consumed, hydrocarbon-fueled vehicles everywhere will rest forever where they lie, rusting monuments to a bygone age. Population explosions based on a superabundance of resource must collapse when that resource is depleted. Mass extinctions follow, along with rapid changes in conditions that only the most adaptable species survive. Ironically, such events in geological history have created the oil deposits that have allowed the human race to usher forward it's own mass extinction. Cars are dinosaurs. Hydrocarbon based civilization is a dinosaur. And if, as seems likely, we are unable to change our ways, humans will be a dinosaur.

Concrete steel and scrap metal. 2m x 1.6m, approx 700kg.

By the way, this magnificent photo (which makes the piece look far better than it is) isn't mine. It was taken by a TheTannykid [link] who wrote about the show, and who I've been unable to contact. If you're looking at this, good sir, I hope you don't mind me borrowing your photo. I like it better then I like the piece.
