At university, I study a course that is unrelated to art. Sometimes the views that I hold and those of my friends are very divergent. Some of my friends are doing majors in management, accounting and other commerce-related degrees. These degrees seem to promote a worldview that places importance on the things that have signalling value in society -- education, income, one's position in their job, appearance etc. The strength of such a worldview is that a person gains humility from choosing to conform to the rules of society.
