Four Seasons by curious3d Four Seasons by curious3d
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.

Vue 9 Infinite.

WOW I wasn't expecting to log in today to 1600 messages!!

I saw a traditional painting from Jacek Yerka with gardens on a cube like this, and I just wanted to try that concept in 3d, but I thought that by adding the transitions, and the change in seasons, it might be more fun and challenging for me.

So when I was first sketching my version of each "garden", each side of the cube, I tried to create the quintessential version of each season - in my own imagination anyway.

The frozen pond, the abandoned playground after school has begun, summer vegetables, the clarity of spring flowers. I knew I was going to be working with a cliche subject (4 seasons), and tried to add depth to that idea.

I wish Devart let you rotate images...

this is a derivative painting of Jacek Yerka's Four Seasons:  I couldn't give permission for it's use even though mine is different from his.

No, I got the idea from a Jacek Yerka painting, as I mentioned above. The puzzle you mentioned uses the Yerka image as well.

Nice! You don't happen to be a fan of Jacek Yerka, do you?

He does pretty funky backgrounds.

YES! Yerka was my direct inspiration for this image. About halfway through this, I was thinking how much easier it would have been if I'd just had a paintbrush and pencils. :P

Not that I could approach his technique, but recreating this in 3D was more time consuming and challenging than I ever thought when I set out to make it.

Yerka's work is amazing - I could look at it all day. Truly inspiring to me.

Yay~ Another Yerka fan~ 8D

But yea...I agree recreating his stuff in 3D will probably by blood-puke-inducing, what with all the various perspectives and intangibles...I don't even wanna think about all the rigging that has to be done...*shudders*

Which is why I stick to paint and pencils. Ohoho~

I concur; when I discovered his works my jaw dropped. I just stop whatever I was doing, and before I knew it I was searching for his works obsessively.

Which is also why I'm beefing up my landscape skills. 8D Yerka and Dali are my heroes.

The work on this is very impressive, and the way you made each of the seasons on thier own 'walls' is pretty interesting, but I do agree- the four seasons are way over-used in some artworks.
