งูเหลือม.
Malayopython reticulatus.

The Reticulated Python has the title of being the world's longest snake, even before the Green Anaconda (although Anacondas grow heavier and are larger in girth, Retics still get the cake when it comes to shere length); they're able to reach almost 7 metres, although such large individuals are very rare. The record is currently held by a captive Reticulated Python named Medusa who measures 7,67 metres. Most interestingly, despite (or perhaps rather because of) their huge size, these snakes can go very long times without eating, the record being 679(!) days.

They're absurdly beautiful pythons with an unmistakeable net pattern (which is what their common name is referring to). Like the King Cobra, Retics are believed to be one of the most intelligent snakes and have a reputation of being unpredictable and highly aggressive in nature. However, they have been kept and bred for many years in captivity (resulting in many fascinating colour morphs) and captive bred individuals can get surprisingly tame and docile if conditioned and handled at a very young age.

Unlike many other large constrictors, Retics are active hunters and they are among the very few snakes (if not even the only one) who actually prey on humans, with large specimens being able to kill and swallow them whole; the latest report is from 2018, where the body of an Indonesian woman (who went missing prior) was found completely intact inside a python after villagers caught it and cut it open.

Reticulated Pythons are very common all over Thailand and surprisingly a highly synanthropic species; they can be found in places as unlikely as big megacities like Bangkok (with numerous cases of unpleasant encounters with individuals crawling out of the toilet).

Here in Texas the problem is Burmese Brown Pythons.  Released in Florida by irresponsible owners, they are taking over and moving west.  Some are huge.  Florida has a bounty on them. I caught a six footer in Austin, rather far north for these guys.

Yes, i've heard about the problem (though, several owners who couldn't handle their pythons anymore weren't the only reason. Hurricane Andrew most likely is the real culprit to blame for the invasion, as one of the many things it destroyed also was a facility housing bred burmese pythons who then escaped in the process).

I had no idea.  But for whatever reason, they have really taken to the swamps.  I mean, we got gators already, we don't need anything else in the reptile department.  I see your work all over Pinterest, I think you are quite the artist.  I'll be keeping an eye on you!  A real honor, best of luck.

Yes, i can understand that sentiment. I love snakes (obviously), but invasive species always are a problem, especially considering the local ecosystem. It's just what you have with Australia and feral foxes/rabbits, messing up everything.

Thank you so much for your kind words on my art!

Not at all.  I am talking with an Australian here on DA right now about the invasive species thing.  He just rescued a snake necked turtle.  I could not believe my eyes when I looked that up.
The better the artist the more I learn.  I cannot steal from the untalented!

Aaah.

I absolutely love reticulated pythons... and your artwork! I can't believe I only just stumbled upon your profile! I just started watching you, and I may eventually buy some prints of your snake art!

The only snake that has been recorded fighting a tiger and killing it (at the cost of its own life)

That snake was handicapped because it ate a pig earlier: imagine what one at full capacity could do.

At least they hardly ever eat people.

I thought this was a picture of a snake at first. 0.0 Really nice job! :D

Some also know much about snakes. Is this Boa constrictor? Or another python? No, some other color, and name of the reticulated. My mistake. I love snakes. Knew about this, because really interested in this. And still I like it.

Can you do Yellow rat snake?

Not for this time, as this series is all about snakes that occur in Thailand. :)
(Thailand has the Radiated Rat Snake, however, which is the baddest ratsnake in all land)

I might expand these portraits to snakes from other countries whenever i did all my Thai ones, as people already requested balls, anacondas and the sorts.
