Equatorial Spitting Cobra by Culpeo-Fox Equatorial Spitting Cobra by Culpeo-Fox
งูเห่าทองพ่นพิษ.
Naja sumatrana.

The second Spitting Cobra that you can find in Thailand, although this species does occur in two different colour variations: one being golden-yellow, with smooth, brown speckles all over its body while the other one is of a most beautiful bluish jetblack. The golden morph is more common in Thailand while the black variant occurs in Malaysia and Singapore (Thailand, though, does have some rare accounts of blacks as well. Still, its Thai name emphasises on the golden variant). Both variations lack any hood markings.

The snake itself is pretty rare and can only be found in Thailand's southern parts.

I love how you blend different formats to create these snake portayals.
There is not a part in this frame I would see as "dull".

Say chap, do you draw every scale for itself, or is there a way to cheat ;) .

No cheating, young lad. Every single scale is drawn by hand. ;)

Love the fully rendered heads on the snake turning into a more 2D, patterned style for the background.

Another jaws dropping piece of art, great job!

Would you mind if I may give suggestion? A beauty rat snake (Orthriophis taeniurus) would be awesome too. I found a couple of them several months ago on a research trip to a cavern tunnel in Chiang Mai. What gorgeous snake they are!... and then I immediately thought about you and your art.

Thank you!

Yes, O. taeniurus is definitely on the list! Love these snakes, my favourite clearly is its cave-dwelling subspecies (O. t. ridleyi) from the South.

This is so beautiful the shading and highlights make it feel like I could touch them threw the screen whilst the patterns with the vibrant colors makes it feel like something out of an family heirloom art piece from decades past.

Only Thai snakes for this series, sorry! Though, i might do a little spin-off with species from other countries, as i've got several requests already. :)

I might do a spin-off of some sorts with snakes from other countries - this one focuses on Thai snakes only. :)
