Another Akira Sketch

Description

I finished a paper this afternoon, so I decided to celebrate by drawing my favorite kickass ninja girl. I'd say she's about 16 or so here. Also, lately I've been working on my sketches. I got several comments on how my sketches reflect my personal style better, so I want to adapt a rougher feel into my finished pieces...

I'm finally back at my apartment but I'm still having issues with my scanner here. Y'all will have to deal with another crappy digital camera image for now, so I'm sorry about that.

Okay, I'll stop ranting. Just look at the art. =P

I'm glad to see that you're still getting some art out there! I definitely agree that this rougher approach to your sketches is a good direction to go in. It just looks more natural.

Okay, so down to business--overall this is looking really solid. The proportions look good, and the anatomy as well for the most part. I do have a couple of suggestions, though feel free to tell me if I'm being a bit too nitpicky:

*The curve on her bent arm should be defined a little more. Bring the line closer to where her elbow is. If of course, you did add it, and I'm just not seeing it since this is a photo and not a scan, then feel free to disregard. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="19" height="19" alt="^^;" title="Sweating a little..." />

*Her hand that's holding the katana looks pretty good, though I would draw her thumb to be overlapping the index finger and touching on top of the middle finger. If my wording doesn't make sense, try the pose with your own hand; that generally helps.

Hopefully that will be of some use. I probably should be more confident in my ability, but I certainly don't want to seem like some sort of know-it-all either. Anyway, good luck!
