Petition for Photography

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 27, 2015, 1:46 AM
I heard in the radio that some odd things are preparing in the European Parliament.
Seriously I hear more and more nonsense plans from there. O_o
(Fortunately some good news too.)

Last year it was a topic to destroy robinia trees, because they are not native European plants.
Just like paprika and tomato and potato... just saying... and not to mention how valuable the robinia honey is, and not to mention that the plant was brought into my country to stabilize the soil in sandy areas, and it was very effective.

Now there is this brilliant idea about photography. That everyone should ask permission to take photos of public buildings.
I found a petition, sign it if you want. I share it because it talks clearly about this problem, and why it is nonsense to accept such rules.
So read it:
www.change.org/p/european-parl…

--------------------

I know, the world is loud because a lot of things happen around LGBT rights.
And the news are also filled with tragic news about terrorist attacks. :(

But this is an art site, and I don't see it anywhere that people would talk about this photography problem.
Why?
Do I follow the wrong channels? Or people really just don't know about it? :?

And what would follow it?
If it becomes forbidden to take a shot of certain buildings without asking permission, then what about paintings? Painters will need a permission to sit down and make a sketch?
I just wonder...
So even if I am not a street or building photographer, I think it is my business too.

If they accept such a rule, can I draw something like this without permission?
And can I share it in my gallery???

Or I am supposed to investigate whom I should contact and ask permission, and until I get it I will lose my interest in the whole thing...

How can a photographer take a spontaneous shot of a beautiful scene if they need days or weeks to get a permission?

It cannot be planned that... Oh, there will be a sunset with unmatched beauty five days from now, and it will paint this and that building into gold, so I must get the permission to take a photo of it, before it happens.
XD it is very realistic, yeah...

Or before one travels into a city it is worth to contact all possible copyright owners, because you might want to take some holiday photos. ^^;

Aki ezt kitalálta, biztos nem normális. Remélem, ez is úgy fog járni, mint a SOPA és a hasonló SOPAtásként kitalált baromságok. Nem is tudtam volna értesülni erről, ha nem osztod meg ezt az infót. Alá is írom a petíciót.

Én is aláírtam :3
Szerintem ebbe nekünk is beleszólásunk van.
Jobb lesz rajta tartani a szemünket ezeken az EU-s ötleteléseken.

Screw them! That will never work. They would have to fine every single person on FB for uploading their vacation photos with a public building behind them. They do not have the power to do that.
As far as I understand they do not mean taking pictures and showing them, but only making profit of them ("the text cautions that the commercial use of such reproductions should require authorization from the rightholder.").

The EU is crazy in many ways. I am so annoyed by EU standards of food. Every time I get to Luxembourg I buy a 20kg sack of carrots for 4Euro which is a total steel. The reason they sell them there so cheep: they cannot export these carrots, because they are to large, to small and/or misshaped which does not match the EU standard. So they have to give away the carrots for cheep to get rid of them or throw them away.
Here in Germany food is often just thrown away for that reason e.g. patatoes that are smaller than EU standard get left on the fields to rot.

And nice to see your full journal pic :aww:

I know it will never work, but it doesn't mean that people shouldn't let them know, that we don't want such rules.

Wow... but what you say really sounds awful O_o Wasting so much food... Selling them cheap is still better.

That happens all over the world with food that is not "standard", but here in the EU it got more extreme since export and import of food has to match the EU stardard. There is a lot more baloney like that e.g. that cucumbers and bananas must have a certain curve and cannot be to straight or to extremely bend. It is extremely stupid.

I agree, it is extremely stupid.
I don't think that people would really care about the curve of bananas or if a potato is a bit smaller...
I mean everybody buy all kind of not perfect looking vegetables all the time. Nobody complains.
Many even tastes better then the good looking imported ones...

I do know a bunch of people who would go by looks of food. They are just so superficial overall that they would not buy food if it doesn't look perfect.
I don't like that attitude =(.

And I still say they would drop this attitude even after a few days of starving. : )

:o (Eek)  That does sound really awful!
How do they wanna control it?
In Rome, there have been many soldiers guarding most official buildings. Will they threaten you with their guns then if you take out a photograph?
And what about countries where no soldiers are about?

I have no idea... if you read the petition I linked then you know that some countries has such rules already, I don't know if they can control it effectively.
My country doesn't have such rules, and I don't want it to have it.

Well it said it was like that in Italy, but I was in Rome this year, and I had absolutely no complications. I have also seen many pictures of Rome on the internet, so I can hardly believe this is true, but... it sounds awful.
