ANSWERS:

4. for Indiliel

Before everything else, variety. I use multiple techniques, traditional, digital, photography, I tried 3D programs... etc. I work with different themes, I don't stuck with portraits only, or a fanart only, or still life only...
But to focus on drawing and painting, my pictures are often way too sketchy. The rough style wouldn't be a problem if I would add more details.
Some simplicity also defines my style. I don't know if it's because of the lack of fantasy, or laziness or something else.
I also usually focus on one thing in each picture. I decide what's important, and I don't care too much about everything else.
That's probably not a good strategy, but it's something that comes from my personality. I hate wasting my time on things that aren't important. I like doing a task smoothly and swiftly and then go to the next one.
I use colors, but I'm not good with "candy colors" and I often create a darker or a little desaturated color palette.
It's probably very obvious that I'm nearly completely uneducated in art, so I often make silly mistakes in anatomy or shading. Though I still do as well as some educated people... even if I'm not on a professional level.
Some of my "trademarks" are wavy and spiral lines, I'm kind of addicted to them XD, and relying on simple line arts (though in the case of acrylic paint I never use line art)

I don't know. I never picked a favourite yet. I think I didn't paint my best work yet, and probably that will be my favourite :D (Big Grin)

9. for silverbullet72

hm... probably some bad sketch with bad anatomy...or one of my worst landscapes XD
...or maybe something that led to an unpleasant conversation, like this one:
Resistance Is Futile

There was one conversation where the character was called a girl.
I meant to draw a male. I dislike the picture because I failed to draw a male character. (And the coloring turned out too sketchy too.)
I don't care about that contest thing. I got over that conflict very fast. Everyone else were part of it much longer than I was.
But failing with the picture bugs me. That bugs me about this piece.

I can't even imagine any other reasons to dislike my own work except not being satisfied with it myself.

This was the reason why I made the second entry, and that turned out much better, I like that one.
I like that despite the conflict that followed it XD

7. for Neferchau

4 is already answered (check the journal please)
And 7 ... well...
Astronaut by Csendes-Arny Fang Ti OC line art by Csendes-Arny
EXCEPT THAT NOW THAT THEY ARE SHARED, THEY DON'T FIT THE REQUIREMENTS ANY MORE ^^;
The first one glows in the dark, the second wasn't shared yet, because it still needs coloring ^^;
Why do you make me fill my gallery with half-finished stuff and with things I cannot capture properly (the glow)???
You could choose any other question that actually has an interesting answer :P :P :P

10. What do you like most about your art? Indiliel

Hm... hard question. But if I think about it, then it's quite simple.
I like that I'm not monotone. And I like that my art is so important to me that I don't give it up.

11. What do you like least about your art? Indiliel

I like it least when I draw too much pictures that doesn't really talk about anything.
I try to work on it now, but I really had a long period, when nothing happened on my pictures, when in reality there was a lot of things in my mind.
(Maybe you expected that I'll tell the sketchy style, but that can be only the second.)

1. When did you get into art? Neferchau

It will sound egoistic first, but I was born with it.
But you have to know I say it because I believe everyone is born with it.
Art is something like a common language of humanity, it's like believing that we have soul, it's ancient, and so common in all the nations that is has to be one of those basic traits that describes our race.

But I think rather want to know since when I create.
I draw since I can hold a pencil. My mother kept my first drawing, it's not bad from a child under 3. It's a very recognizable cat. I'll actually reload that into my gallery when I find the scan on my discs.

But if you want to know when I started think that what I do is art, then it happened somewhere in elementary school somewhere between the age 10-14.
By that time I really had ideas that I tried to show in an artistic way. Some of them would be actually worth to repaint and work with them.

14. What do you like drawing the most? LaYoosh

Probably human or humanoid figures.
It's a natural attraction to our own form, I think.

17. What would you absolutely refuse to draw? LaYoosh

I can't really put it in words, because it all depends on the context and the reason why I would draw that, and on my courage to draw certain things.
If I would say I refuse to draw things that disgust me, that would be a lie.
For example smoking disgusts me, but I include smoking figures in pictures to create the atmosphere of certain places, but obviously it means that I use this element to describe a somewhat unpleasant place... so the smoking figure is not there because I like smoking, it's there, because I don't like it.
So I draw things I don't like if I need it to show something.
I wouldn't draw many kind of sexual themes, because they are too private, me liking something or being repelled by some fetishes or feel fear about something that isn't public.
I also don't work with political themes, or go into deep religious topics, because they would attract people who would try argue about those things, and I don't want that kind of attention.
My purpose is different with art, it definitely isn't having pointless discussions and conflicts over religion or politics.

18. What is your purpose for drawing? LaYoosh

I have multiple purposes with drawing and art.
It's a great therapy. I mean it helps relaxing, letting stress out, getting to know myself better, helps express myself better, heals from the bad life periods.
But that's not all, those are only my selfish purposes.
I also would like to give something to others, share ideas, make them think, show them something through art; show them the world through a so called "me-filter". :3
Why? Because I have things to say, I just don't always know how, and I fail too often, so I must get better at art.

22. List at least one of your “artspirations.” Indiliel

List what? O_o?
I don't know what people call "artspiration".
Inspiration for art? Or art that inspires me? Orrrrrr.... something else???

Who wrote these questions anyway? ^^; Like 7. showing pieces that I didn't share... O_o maybe I had a reason to not share them or not yet... now who the Hell knows if I'll ever color that Fang-Ti line art for example... now that I shared it, it doesn't seem so interesting to color it, it was much more inspiring to work on it in the background. Plus if I upload the colored version, then I'll have two of the same stuff in my gallery, it will be boring to see that twice...

5. Do you practice other styles/have you tried other styles in the past?

As you know it well, I don't do one fixed style.
I tried realism, cartoonist, comic style, abstract, anime/manga, semi realism, art with lines and a few times lineless art, cell shaded... even vector art. And that's just the 2D art.

I would like to ask more detailed: how do you think your art style changed in the past? Is there something you don't do anymore or something you prefer more than you used to?

Well I pretty much just switched back and forth between realism - semi realism - anime/cartoonist.
It depended on my emotional state and personal experiences with the "audience".

I had certain periods when I tried to draw mostly portraits, mostly robots, etc.
But I never stick with only one thing or one style.

The only thing I considered as a mistake is that after I discovered dA I started to make too much fan art.
I wanted feedback, to get feedback I needed attention, fandoms gave me friends, and I was happy about it first, but then I realized that the feedback I got wasn't the feedback I needed. Of course it was fun to know that people loved the same characters, and we talked about the latest episodes... but that was about another person's art not about my own.
And once I switched fandom, I always lost some people. Plus one fandom was extremely cruel to me, and succesfully turned me away from realistic portraits for a long time.

So that's one goal to minimize the number of fan art I make, even if it costs getting less attention and connecting to less people. Because let's be honest... if I do my own stuff, and not make it even partially fan (like OC-s in a fandom) then very few people will find it, or be interested in it.
You know me from a fandom too. If it wouldn't be the fandom, and fan art, and being in the same fan club, would we ever get to know each other? Maybe... but maybe not.

So some fan art stays, and I will occasionally make such things, but would like to make a habit of placing my own ideas first, and try to put them into visual form.
I know, first they will be clumsy, very clumsy... because I won't have any reference to them except the things I picked up through the years, there won't be any canon to refer to, because I'm in the process of creating what's canon.
But if I do this long enough, I'll get better at it. I always get better if I put myself into something.

I don't intend to change one thing though. I will keep this style switching, so I don't get bored. I like choosing the most fitting style to my picture, and the most practical, and of course what I can actually see that I can paint or draw in a certain style or with a certain technique.
I mean... what's better? Drawing a pencil portrait with lots of lines that actually resembles the person and makes me kinda proud, or sucking and failing with a perfect digital painting, because I'm just not on that level yet, or I wasn't even in the mood for digital work at all... See? :3

Was I supposed to notice something about it? Or you needed to read it for some reason?  :3

Thanks for answering. I remember parts of that discission, but I don't think it is the pic what led to that whole mess, it was the one who was up to trouble. It could have been anthing else from anyone else - if someone wants to fight, they will get a fight bunneh icon17

Actually the fight started over this and the bar scene together. I didn't get it why the bar scene was rejected while such a cruel scene as this one was allowed (I mean removing and replacing body parts is much more creepy in my opinion). So it was an odd situation.

But that isn't the reason why I dislike this piece.
It was the other conversation about it.
There was one where the character was called a girl.
I meant to draw a male. I dislike the picture because I failed to draw a male character. (And the coloring turned out too sketchy too.)
I don't care about that contest thing. I got over that conflict very fast. Everyone else were part of it much longer than I was.

Uhm... I can't show you one favourite, and I still don't have all my stuff back in this gallery... but how about a little selection of my personal favs, so you can have an idea what I would like to achieve, which direction I try to make improvement.

Venus Earth by Csendes-Arny Felfele by Csendes-Arny Nebula Prime TF OC by Csendes-Arny Grievous by Csendes-Arny Pavel Vs Ma3a Tron Fanfic Idea by Csendes-Arny Space Ship Concept by Csendes-Arny Green House by Csendes-Arny Alpha and Galea in Halloween Costumes by Csendes-Arny
human figures, robots, space and spaceships (sci-fi things), I also intend to get better at both realism and being able to draw in a more simple cartoon/manga/comic type style
When I achieve something, that makes me like those pieces more.
I don't have it in the gallery at this moment, but I have a Plo-Koon painting I really love. People didn't even notice it, but I love that I managed to draw him, and traditionally paint his portrait, and I was able to add several fine details. And that makes me satisfied with that piece. :3

That is a nice description of your style! I could have not put that in words as good as you did! Also it is interesting to read how you define yourself even if it was not surprising to hear =).

BTW updating your journal might be a good idea. With the others who did this I kept ging back to their journals to check for new things, but it is a bit unstructured and it gets forgotten easily that way.
I will aks more, but first want to see what others ask. I'm curious about a few things :aww:
