Butter Battle Book Clash

So, the prompt for Bakshi was interesting. While I was looking for clips of his works on youtube, I happened upon a Dr. Seuss cartoon of one of his books, The Butter Battle Book. Which pits two neighboring peoples against each other... What could keep these two peoples so divided that they built a wall between them? Butter, yes butter. Which side do you butter your bread, on the top, or on the underside without standing on your head?

Originally it was just the flags, about to class. But then I decided to draw the two main characters in the cartoon on top of their respective flag poles, each holding the deadliest weapon either of their sides could come up with. Who will drop it first? There's actually no resolution to this one, it ends without seeing, and instead is a story about arms races and mutually assured destruction. Which was still big news in the 1980s as that was before the Cold War ended.
