Description
A commission for Cesilan.
The trees in this were inspired by Aspens, which are amazing trees I've never actually seen but that I'd like to paint more of.
If other artists are like me they probably have weird favourite bits of their own art. In this one for me it's the way the wing connects to the wrist and the scales of the upper arm.
I have a odd thing where the music I'm listening to can sometimes get attached to the bit of painting I'm working on, so those scales now sound like the Fourth Wall Collapse version of Gotye's Worn Out.
This is the first painting I'm posting here that was completed all with my new tablet, which I only own thanks to you guys. <3 It's a beautiful thing with a great natural feel to it. My only concern is how fast I'm going to go through nibs but it is really terrific to use.
I'm immensely tired at the moment so I apologise for the bland comments - I've been painting constantly lately and I am taking commissions again. Everything I'm doing lately is basically helping me go to Uni next year. So it's all good.
Critique is encouraged as always, but I'm likely to apply suggestions in future work rather than reworking this.
Time: 20 hours
Tools: Photoshop CS4, Wacom Intuos 4 tablet!!
Music: The Middle East - fantastic gentle acoustic.
