Since the only kind of notes I get are people asking for freebies lately, guess I better make it clear:
No, I won't draw shit for free. Yes, you should feel bad for even asking.
And to add to that, if you're looking for free art:
Just stop. Don't take advantage of artists. I might be a grown-ass jaded adult, but there are very young or otherwise vulnerable people who might struggle telling someone to go fuck themselves even when they absolutely should. Pay people for their work. If you think asking restaurants for free food or hairdressers for free haircuts is inappropriate, but asking for free art is totally ok, then you need to re-evaluate your understanding of art.
And if you're an artist of any level:
Don't do free work for anyone. I'm not talking about gifts, charity work, collabs with friends and other causes that you're personally invested in, I mean randos approaching you online, spec work, contests from corporations than clearly can't be assed to pay someone etc. Whatever exposure, fame, profit-share and other nonsense they promise isn't real. (there are some exceptions like art tests for jobs in gamedev which tbh isn't a practice i agree with, but is sometimes inevitable. Just make sure the company is reputable. ANYWAY.)
Work on your own stuff while you can. Life is short and there are so many people who feel entitled to your time. The older you get, the harder it's gonna be to get your personal art out there, especially if you end up pursuing art full-time. Personal art is important for the soul.
ok, i'm done.
