I'm sorry to bother you guys with this, but I have to explain something.
Two DA users commented on my Captain America painting saying that this is a paint over.
Quoting the comments:
User A: "Paintover of a photo, pathetic"
User B: "Holy shit, nice paint over. You couldn't have even hidden the fact that you painted over a photo you found on google?"
I was going to reply to them in the comments but instead, I prefer to say it in a journal so if anyone of you want to know, you can find it here.
Ok first of all, it is not a paint over. Second, I did use two photos I found on google, but I painted everything from 0. I started with a blank canvas on photoshop. I don't paint over the freaking photos. I use them as references because I suck at drawing/painting without watching a photo. Not only for digital art, I do the same when I do traditional art. I just can't draw without a photo.
And I am not the only one who does that here on DA, a lot of artists here use screencaps for their art and they paint the exact same thing that is on the screencap/photo and it looks amazing.
And just because it looks good, doesn't mean it is a paint over!
For those two users: Save your comments before saying anything hurtful to someone else and of course, inform yourself before criticizing other's work.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm kinda sad/mad. I mean, I spent hours on this painting and then these two start talking... why people criticize instead of asking?
