In following my growing interest in visual poetry, I've come across a couple of resources that are new to me and I think might be of interest to collage artists (and visual poets) if they are not already familiar with them.
First, the book Visual Poetry In The Avant Writing Collection
from the Ohio State University Library (2008) is a beautiful book. It's fitting that the design of the book reflects the character of much of the visual poetry included. The two introductions, the first by Dr. Marvin Sackner (of the Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry) and the second by the visual poet Bob Grumman offer unique insights and commentary.
Here's a LINK and a few images from the book below.
Second, an article by Karl Kempton, Visual Poetry: A Brief History of Ancestral Roots and Modern Traditions. 2005. It's a bit academic but has a lot of interesting information and references. LINK
