Our First Workshop!
Our members voted, and we've decided to hold the first workshop for literature. This workshop will be co-hosted by KneelingGlory, nycterent, and LateNightLady. Anyone from dA is welcome to join us! Even if you're not lit-minded, this workshop will set the pattern for the workshops we do in the future, which will include visual arts.
How it Works
The chat itself is scheduled for Saturday, November 28th @ 6:00pm GMT. It will be held in the CritiqueIt chatroom.
Here is a time conversion tool if you don't know your time relative to GMT.
Critique-It members may send a note to the club with a link or thumb to a piece of literature (prose or poetry) they'd like considered for the workshop. These are the general requirements for your piece (though exceptions may be made):
- Prose should be no more than 1,500 words
- Poems should be no more than 30 lines
- No glaring grammar/spelling mistakes
- No mature content
The club needs to receive your notes by no later than Monday, November 23rd @ Midnight GMT. This gives the hosts time to read the submissions and choose four (two prose and two poetry) to workshop. Those who have their work accepted for the workshop will be expected to participate by commenting on at least one of the other pieces presented in the chat.
Each piece will be given 30 - 45 minutes time for the purpose of workshopping. One of the hosts will post a link to the piece and anyone in the chat will be able to read and comment on it within the chatroom. There are some general rules that go along with this:
- Constructive comments only. (If you love the story, that's fine, but you need to have something to add to the workshop, too.)
- Absolutely no derogatory remarks.
- To make a comment, please use the ^ symbol and wait to be called on by one of the hosts.
- When you've finished your comment, write "Finished" or some equivalent, so we know to move on to the next person.
Everyone who participates in the workshop event will have two pieces from their gallery featured in a news article recapping the event.
Send Us Your Lit!
Remember that only Critique-It members will have their work accepted for the workshop. To join us, just watch the club! Send your lit to us in a note labeled "Workshop Submission" by Monday, November 23rd @ Midnight GMT. We'll read each piece and notify those selected for the workshop by Wedsnesday, November 25th. Anyone accepted to the workshop is expected to participate for the entire event, which should last 2-3 hours.
We eagerly await your notes!
