This leaves me breathless. There is so much emotion in it and the abrupt "splash" is so unnatural that it becomes perfect. However, it's extremely well done and it certainly looks real. I like the single hair that's stuck at the corner of the mouth. The lightening and the shading is simply perfection as well. The dark background clearly sends the message through that this is all about this person, not that you'd be able to look at anything else when you can look at this face... But what really stuns me is that the overall face is so perfect and pale that it looks like marmor, yet the eyes hold so much life that this couldn't possibly be a statue. Yes, the eyes are what really catches me. They tell a story all by them selves - the deep emotion and reflection of the surroundings. The tears place a sense of humanity in this, they bind it all to the world. The angle is a very thoughtful touch - it makes this different and memorable. Though making this picture memorable wouldn't be a problem - it truly is one of the the most beautiful things I have ever seen, it holds a perfect mix of roughness and plain beauty. It's indeed a masterpiece and I thank you so much for making it...

At first glance if I didn't know this was from you I'd have thought someone had done something horrible. The blood -- the blood! -- the tear ... the raw emotion all work together in unison to evoke an emotional response. I love the monochrome skin tones contrasting with the black and red clotting blood.

At second glance, however ... the thing that gives this away as not being real ... is that your "damaged" eye -- the actual eyeball itself -- is bright and beautiful. Thank goodness! I've seen my share of such damage and there is usually broken blood vessels, clouding, even rips, cuts and leakage. Don't ask how I know this.

Depending on what you hope to accomplish, special effect contact lenses may be worth considering.

Either way, I'm constantly amazed by the beauty and imagination you put into these images. You have created a signature style in this make up art form. Thank you for sharing these with us!

I love the way there is a contrast between the single tear and the surreal splash of colour on the other side, and the fact the rest of the face is relatively bland. It's very abstract which I love, and it's a great piece of photography, and even the simplest of turnings of the photo has made quite an effect. The impact of the dark shade of the background to the light shade of the face as well creates a ghost like effect which in my opinion emphasises the use of the colour on the eye, therefore it truly does express such emotion. My favorite bit though is the single tear; it still has effect even at the simplest of forms. Well done.
