Quite intense.
The lament she expresses feels to be that of betrayal. There really is destitution in her eyes, and yet she seems submissive.
The hair is Slightly bedraggled, implying that she's unconcerned of her appearance. Perhaps further implying the notion of her being discarded.
The down tilt of her head along with the eyes focusing onto the viewer are what I feel grant the image the nature of an unrequited love, platonic or romantic.
The subject is still longing for emotional connection with so forlorn a gaze.
The submissive nature is also fuelled by her closed lips. Which have a protective, and introverted feel in combination with her slightly furrowed brow.
The image overall is cropped so close so as to emphasise the intimacy. had there been a greater border it may well have distanced the observer from the subject. Perhaps giving a more forgiving experience. Allowing you to distance yourself.
The shadow on her eyes is quite an introverted affectation as well. It works in combination with her shroud of hair with which her face is framed.
Overall the image is very emotionally arresting. I have noticed other's mentioning that she may be trying to express that she's seen seen a daemon. That perhaps she's imploring for your own communication. However I must say I feel the closed lips give her a quiet nature rather than an extrovert one. The character has perhaps not given up but is in no way resisting at this point. She has very much given up to my mind's eye.
