Some interesting stuff has happened over the past couple of days. Namely, this:
Some giftart I made way back in 2011 was stolen from my gallery and recoloured (badly) by a certain person who will remain nameless and uploaded onto their Instagram account. camiif3tt
alerted me to the image and I calmly asked them to remove it. They did not, and only when it was made public and began to attract attention did they finally take it down. Or perhaps Instagram removed it, I don't know. But anyway - this must have left them a little sour because they went into the original artwork on my own page and said "This picture has a different name on it! I think YOU stole this picture! "
Of course, this artwork is so old it still has "(c) silverbrumby" on it (if you remember me from my old name let me know as you deserve a cookie). I plan to change this as it's been a target for art thieves several times now. But still, I've been amused all day long by the thought of me stealing my own artwork. Should I report me to myself? Hehe. camiif3tt
came to my rescue by vouching that she knew me when I was SilverBrumby and I noticed a little while later that the accusing comment had quietly been removed.
But really, if they had paid attention to the artist's CURRENT name when so blatantly taking the art from their dA gallery, maybe they would have known it was the same person. But of course not, they only gave a damn that it looked nice and wanted to paint over it to make it look like their character. Painted right over the watermark with no credit to the original. I guess only an artist has respect for another artist's work. People who recolour screengrabs and others art don't, but I knew that... I think we all know that, because only artists know how much love and time we put into our work... or so it seems.
But I wish I'd gotten a screengrab of being accused of stealing my own art. Hilarious.
