Magnified Illusion by crimson-ivory Magnified Illusion by crimson-ivory
I've been doing this in art class for the past week or so, instead of doing my work... lol. But it is SO difficult to do something 'artistic' when it requires no creativity whatsoever! I get so bored in her class, there's never anything that catches my interest. Just flowers in pots that she wants us to draw... ugh.

My scanner wasn't fond of this one, either. It blew out the white on her back (the colors really go farther into the white space.) And you really can't see the colors in all their glory. On the tip of each feather is a deep violet blue, which it didn't show AT ALL. It just looks like a darker version of the blue... and the dark purple wings really have pink highlights, which you can just barely see through all the violet blue that decided not to show up on the other wings in the scan. I hope that made sense, and if it didn't... well, at least I feel better. It's so much prettier in real life!

Wow, your colouring is gorgeous and the folds in the fabric have real depth. I like the little ground shadows too, great stuff

Yeah, I don't think I could go to an art school for that very reason.. it might make me hate art. It's like they give you no 'artistic lisence' at all! In my 9th grade year, my art teacher was amazing! She would have us do a few more structured assignments, but the rest of the time, she'd just tell us to draw, with maybe one or two guidelines like a certain type of paper or medium. But this year... it drives me nuts!

thats how my highschool art class went to. My teacher would say "ok use watercolours and go nuts" and that would be it.

I hate the stuff I am doing now, I've either done it a million +1 times or its a technique I haven't used but starting to hate. Its like this course is geared to make me look like I suck lol. Oh well, I got a really good mark on the first assignment and got show cased. I'm just ticked at my ink assignment because its not working out.

Anywho, thats enough ranting from me! lol.

Ooooh! ::pets wings:: They're lovely. You have some serious skill with....looks like colored pencil, but I can't tell on my computer. Anyway, you have talent with whatever media it was you used.:) And kudos for finishing two wings that were entirely feathered. I had to leave a drawing for over a year with only one wing finished because the feathers drove me nuts. ^^

Lol yeah, the feathers were tedious. I only finished them because I hate my art class and that was all I had to do! :) Thanks so much!!

You're very welcome and I know how that is...hating art class. Unfortunately, I can't get away with doing something other than what I'm supposed to be working on because there are only two students in the art class during the period I have it in, myself and a friend.

Only two?! Oh wow! All of my art classes have had at least 17 people in them, even my advanced classes lol. But I do go to a fairly large school; we have a little over 1600 students. Smaller than some schools, but it's the biggest one around here. I've also decided that my art teacher really is an idiot... we're making 3D boxes with optical illusions on them and we had to show her how to make the boxes.... :O_o:

LOL My art teacher is a little...not completely with it sometimes, but she's all right. My school only has around 400 people from grades 1-12 and there aren't many seniors interested in art class (it's an option senior year at my school), so we only have two students in AP ARt during F period, which is when I have it and there are...three other people taking AP Art during other periods of the day and one other taking art 3.

lol Once again, Kentucky's rural reputation precedes it. Some parts of Kentucky are like that, but I live about 15 minutes from Cincinnati, Ohio, so we aren't as rural as a lot of the state is. I do drive about half an hour to school every morning, but that isn't because there aren't schools closer, I just happen to go to a school that's a little farther away. We also have schools like you do (elementary, middle, and highschools), but we have some schools, mostly the Catholic schools around here (I go to one of them), that have all grades k-12.

lol! That's so few people!!! There are more people in my senior class than 400. I think it's 600-some. So you live in Kentucky? I've always thought that to be a country kinda state, where people own tons of land and the ride to school in the morning is more than a half hour lol. Dunno if My boyfriend's brother and family live in Kentucky, and that's how they say it is. The woods have got to be creepy.... :O_o: Wait, so one school is for grades 1-12? We have an elementary school for grades K-5, middle school for 6-8 and then high school through 12. Seems so... foreign lol.

Wow! That's great! :) I love just about everything about it. I can't choose my favorite part.
Just one thing, the left hand seems a bit odd. Human fingers aren't pointed like that, but she's got wings growing out of her back, so I suspect she's not human. xD

THANK YOU! You are the first person EVER to say something like that! I used to have people on my back all the time about incorrect anatomy, but hey! Maybe I meant to do it that way - did they ever think of that? Oh stupid people.. anyway, I'm so glad you noticed that! Of course, it's sort of hard to miss those wings lol. :glomp: Thanks!
