I'm out of ideas for a title again, ah well. "Traditional" Chinese ink painting, not sure how long it took me. Probably about 10 hours or so. I'm most happy with the letters, everything else is okay I suppose. A substitute teacher of mine decided to 'help' me by putting way too much ink there in the middle, next to the mountain. A lot of help that was... At least everything wasn't lost lol. The paper was tea-stained by my teacher, it was pretty neat. Ooo- and I used a sumi-e brush :D

It's now hanging on my wall from twine with bamboo on the top and bottom as a frame. It's lovely.

Man, this is so cool. I love these old Asian looking ink paintings. I'd like to do one myself sometime soon. You really did the style justice, what with the subtle smoke wafting around and the intricate little twigs. The only real gripe that I have is the roots of the tree look like they're just kind of resting on the ground, like a banana peel, as opposed to being firmly planted in the earth. I'm not entirely sure how that kind of effect could be achieved though, having no real experience in this technique myself. That's nothing major though, the piece still has a very good feel to it.

Thank you so much! I'd never realized that about the roots before but you're right. Thanks!

I love the gentle shades and simplicity:) I don't know much about sumi-e or ink painting, so I can't offer much of a critique, but this is such an enjoyable piece:thumbsup: Beautiful work!!

Yeah, Darryl somehow convinced me to part with it lol. I'm glad that it's somewhere where people will see it though, rather than in my room, hidden away somewhere lol. Thank you!

Beautiful letters, Jess. I like the simplistic nature idea shown through without being overly detailed....I hope that made some sense :lmao: Great artwork!

Well, that was kinda what we were supposed to do, since old Asian people thought nature was SOOO much more important than humans, and so they made everything simple but important. lol so it did make sense :)

For everyone that thinks it looks amazing on here, It looks even better in person. It's really beautiful Jessie. Darryl showed it to me tonight. He wants to hang it on our wall so I told him he could. Got anything else we can put on the wall? hehe ;)

Not quite so advanced critique: OOOO! Kewl. @___@

Ahem.

More so advanced: I don't know much about sumi-e painting, but: I must say, the characters look absolutely perfect. :3 My bro's into Chinese/Japanese calligraphy right now and your stuff looks straight out of his book. o.o I also like the compisition of the painting. The locations of the mountains and such. The only advice I can give is: don't let your subsitute teacher "help" you again. XD

That's such beautiful work. If it was a print, I'd WELL add it to my wishlist - it's SOOO intricate and beautiful.
It looks really, really professional, Jessie :D You should be really proud :D
I love the tree and the blades of grass - the peachy colours are gorgeous as well.
The lettering is perfect, you did so well.
There's not a single thing I dislike.
More work like this :D it is beautiful. :)
