Regard the snail
That in a narrow room
Inhabits both
His tower and his tomb.

His hollow house
Poised like a sculptured wave
Becomes at once
his fortress and his grave. ~ Joseph Auslander

:D (Big Grin) Yes, someone has a cat because I have no one to give me feelings, someone because me loves or just mulches those cats.

Adorable and whimsical capture.  Oh my goodness, I haven't seen this little rhyme in years!

I'd never heard of it before but it's wonderful to hear of someone who has     :highfive:
Joseph Auslander was a prominent American poet I believe but not one we see in the UK, at least not to my knowledge    :IrStupid:

I recognized the poem and his name too.  I read a lot of poetry and write some, so there are many that I really love to read.  Somewhere in my gallery I have fractals and other pieces of art that I paired up with poetry that is in the Public Domain by poets and I really enjoyed that very much it was fun.  I have been thinking of doing it again.  Have you ever heard of Robert W. Service?  I think you might enjoy his poetry if you are into poetry.
Here is a link to one of them, just in case you are interested.  Don't feel you must read it if you aren't interested.

Not met up with him before. Looked him up on Google where he is referred to as the "Bard of the Yukon". The Shooting of Dan McGrew and The Cremation of Sam McGee I've just read and there is a vague hint of the WWI poets giving a strong flavour of a time and place. He also has some excellent quick quotes recorded on Google. Thanks for the introduction Lea :)

Yes, he has some wonderful poetry and I love quotes and mix them with my fractal art. I used one of his little verses that doesn't even have a title in a tribute I did for a friend that died from cancer. She was very young when she departed this life.

This is the little poem.

Yes, I am one with all I see.
With wind and wave, with pine and palm;
Their very elements in me
Are fused to make me what I am.
Through me their common life-stream flows,
And when I yield this human breath,
In leaf and blossom, bud and rose,
Live on I will … There is no Death.

That definitely has echos of the War Poets...    HAV - Tom Longboat 2
