~I'm gonna just rip away the first half of the movie. Because the second half keeps covering what happened in the first half that would be important to reminding everyone that it had a plot.
~Getting ousted as a witch makes sense. The girl saw her talk to a giant killer demon wolf beast. With the girl's brother being blamed as the wolf, she had a reasonable motivation to say that Red spoke to the wolf. Okay. Red forgiving the girl for ousting her. Still reasonable-ish but highly downplayed with her reaction to it. Then the jealous girl saying "I don't believe you, you're too pretty, too awesome. So you must be a witch go die now." *spit* I completely understand that type of character. There's always one. HOWEVER, then Red stands up to the wolf, and by standing up to, I mean hiding behind the holy ground line of "nanny nanny boo boo you can't touch me" cop out. Then the other girls see her "bravery" and push themselves in front of her to "protect" her, all while STILL hiding behind the you-can't-cross-this line. BULLSHIT. 100% First of all. They already ousted her. Her saying, "I won't let you hurt my village." Should not have been enough to suddenly convince the villagers. Reminder, they are scared shitless villagers with little to no education. Like she can convince them that she's brave and isn't going try try to backstab them later. In the hayday of "ousting someone as a witch", they logically would have taken a solid boot to her back and shoved her to the wolf to save their own asses. The witch is always either killed or if they are incredibly lucky, get to run away to live another day.
~Red not noticing her father's eyes. They put so much emphasis on how the wolf has dark brown human eyes. She's always staring bugg-eyed till her eyeballs almost pop out of her skull at people to see their eyes. And yet when daddy finally comes in, they drop the pay off on. "Once she figured out what I was, it was too late." I ju-...uhhhhg, noooooo. Script writing 101: Why tell them when you can show them?
~For being so defiant with the idea of killing she was sure pre-emptive with taking a severed man's hand tipped with silver nails to shove into her loving father after being so adament about saying that she didn't want to be/wasn't like him. Yet she let's the man she's creaming herself over who get's bit, live. Daddy issues and selfish decision making much?
~The only time that I outwardly noticed her react appropriately was when she became paranoid about someone being the wolf and pulled a knife on them, even stabbing them when they got closer.
~"No daddy I will not go with you to let you murder people or be like you. However I will let my boy toy live after being infected and INVITE HIM TO STAY WITH ME!!! Then later on I will push a murderous-time bomb out of my vagoo I had with my wolfie boy toy and risk the whole village's safety with not one, but TWO werewolves living on the outskirts of town. If boy toy doesn't bite and infect me during another blood moon when he get's that bite fever brewing, actually even if he didn't....my offspring will either way most likely grow to become an invincible killing machine like my dead daddy told me, and then most likely repeat history by MURDERING me and not even boy toy will be able to stop it because it was born as an INVINCIBLE KILLING MACHINE thanks to my cursed blood line."...does that even need explaining?
~The boy toy saying he was going to leave until he knew how to control himse-I'm sorry, he said protect her....from....himself....He should have just made her kill him to make it nice and tragic, or left her completely. OR better yet once he changed, couldn't stop himself from coming back on a blood moon to bite her ass to show that she will end up like her daddy anyways because she was too wet-errr, boycrazy stupid to finish the job. Then drive home the "history repeats itself" through having her offspring grow up and murder her when she tries to stop it from killing people every month. Because daddy already told her that the further the bloodline went the more powerful the resulting offspring would be.
~Despite Red dreaming, yet not wanting to go out into the snowy mountain wilderness with a werewolf. The cinematography kept showing that dream like, "Yo, even though you didn't want to do that, you gonna do it anyways ya dumb bitch hahaha!" Which should have happened. If she REALLY cared about protecting that village she would have left and took anything wolf related with her. It made sense at least The nightmares alone involving that village should have gotten her ass out of town! Instead, the reason she left the town was because she got knocked up by wolfie boy toy. Then moved to her dead granny's house in the dark scary forest near town where her gran was murdered and where she had murdered her father!....what?!....WHAT?!?!
~The only things good about this movie:
1. Gary Oldman
2. Seeing a bitten Gary Oldman's character react to one of his men getting revenge on him after murdering the man's brother who had just being bitten after a fight with the monster wolf.
