Blue Knitted Lightsaber

This is my entry for the 's Star Wars contest! Unfortunately, the photograph cut off a small portion of this piece, but the picture came out well, so I'm satisfied that this shows off my piece in the best possible light. To make this, I bought a 3-foot long piece of plastic PVC pipe from the hardware store, then measured the diameter and knitted in the round to the length of the pipe. The button is obviously a red button that I sewed on the 'handle' part of the piece. You can't see it, but the handle/hilt is a length of grey (as seen), then black, then a small length of grey at the bottom.

This lightsaber does not light up, as I didn't have the time or money to try to figure out how to light it up from the inside, but I might try harder to figure out how to do that if I make another. If I get a large amount of interest in this piece, I plan on making another/more of these in the future.

The pattern is my own--the type of yarn that was used is acrylic. I was very satisfied with the Bernat yarn I used for the blue; it's higher quality than Red Heart Super Saver.

I'm not sure how long it took me to make this--I would say at LEAST eight hours, probably more like ten or twelve hours.
