Wizard's Tower (Unfinished) by crazycolleeny Wizard's Tower (Unfinished) by crazycolleeny
Not exactly a "castle" but I think it still counts for my "castle" theme ;) I'm still not finished with this "wizard's tower" but I think it needs to sit for a while before I can figure out what else I want to do with it so I thought I'd at least post a picture now. I think it may need some vines at the bottom and around the door (and adjustment to the door), I may add something in the foreground, and the sky feels a bit lonely. Suggestions are welcome :)

Maybe the silhouette of a dragon swooping in the background?

I was thinking of a few small birds, but... mayyybe?  Or maybe they're small enough that you can call them whatever you want ;)

if only I could have this place, I would as I do collect all the pencils, pens, and paper then  seclude myself there in the highest room greeted by the rising sun and smell of conifer in the air every morning  until I was stuck there due to frail bones.

Oh yes, me too.  Someday, I WILL have my cabin-in-the-woods... but a tower would absolutely suffice ;)

Additions to the tower would improve it's ability to retain the viewer's attention by giving more details to affix them. If you alter the entrance way, I would recommend using somewhat brighter, semi-cool detail work, adding a softened focal point to help lead the viewer through the composition.

Altering your foreground wouldn't improve the image, as it would undermine the viewer's appreciation of the tower's height (which is reinforced by the interspersed vertical lines provided by the trees that surround the tower).

Adding more to your sky could give it more interest, but may also make the image harder to read. As it stands the tower emits a plume of smoke with a definitive gesture and directionality, complicating the sky too much could take away from this quality.

Thanks for the ideas!

Hm, I'll see what I can do for the tower.  I'm still not sure what it'll end up as yet.  As for the foreground, I just didn't feel like it was "finished" since I didn't spend the time on it I had meant to, but there's not a lot I would "add" so much as just clean up a bit.  In the sky, I was thinking a few small birds or something.  I'm so used to cloudy skies that a completely blue one just seems so out of place to me ;)

Thanks very much for spending the time to give me some ideas :)
