Read all comments in all the MMD in Blender tutorials I've made to see if your question has been answered before you ask ^^
Also, check out our group :iconmmd2blender-mmdart: There are other MMD in Blender tutorials there as well as art :D

I have updated my MMD to Blender Tutorial for 2.92. I have added a little bit of new info that was not in the last tutorial, but mostly everything else is the same. This tutorial will work for Blender 2.80-2.92, but not for other previous versions of Blender because Blender changed it's interface a lot. I used the latest version of the MMD Tools addon. The addon gets updated frequently ^^

Hopefully you will find this helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask :D I'm still learning myself so I don't know how to do everything yet, but I will try to help if I can ^^

This is something I didn't put in the tutorial but I thought I would mention it here. Some MMD models may not work in Blender correctly. If you can't get a model to work in Blender then you'll have to find another model to use instead ^^

(Edit: 6/28/21) I have checked to see if the MMD tools addon works in Blender 2.93, and after asking powroupi for help with an error I was getting I can now say that the addon works in it. Make sure you are using the most recent version of the addon ^^

(Edit: 12/5/21) I have checked to see if the MMD tools addon works in Blender 3.0 and it still works in it. Make sure you use the most recent version of the addon ^^

Do you know how to change the expressions on the textures?

Are you asking how to change facial expressions on a model that has a 2D texture for the face? This tutorial shows different ways of how to do it ^^

Do you know how to get it to work because I installed it and it didn't show up.

crazy4anime09's avatar

Try following this https://github.com/powroupi/blender_mmd_tools/wiki/How-to-install-the-mmd_tools-Blender-add-on It was made several years ago, but the steps are the same ^^

Strange I installed MMD tools like any other addon but it does nothing and doesn't show up in the list or toolbars.

crazy4anime09's avatar

Was Blender closed when you put the mmd_tools folder into Blender's addon folder? ^^

RobotElixa's avatar

I used the import from zip file option for addons

crazy4anime09's avatar

I've never installed the addon that way. I always go to the addon folder in Blender, but I found a tutorial of someone showing how to install it with the zip file option if that is how you want to install it ^^

Nice update, just as I was installing MMD Tools on Blender Linux.

If I can help a bit for Linux users, here's what I did:

-Open up Blender and then close

-Check hidden folder at your home folder, .config, and find blender, and then version number, scripts, and you find the addon button

This is normal installation guide if you just install it from an app store from any linux distribution. If installed via Snap or Flatpak, you may find .snap and .var folders respectively, in a home folder.
