MMD in Blender 2.79 Importing Motions Tutorial by crazy4anime09 MMD in Blender 2.79 Importing Motions Tutorial by crazy4anime09

 :D

I finally made an updated version of how to import MMD motions into Blender. There were a lot of updates made to MMD Tools addon by powroupi so I decided to update this tutorial. There are two parts to this tutorial this is part 1 ^^

I used Blender 2.79b for this tutorial but this will also work in previous versions of Blender. This tutorial focuses on how to import MMD motions, how to turn the physics on, and how to add sound. If you have any questions feel free to ask :D ^^

I did not include this in the tutorial since this tutorial was for importing. If you want to make your own animations in Blender the model has to be in T pose for the first keyframe. The model also has to be in the center of the 3D viewport where it imports in. Then afterwards you can move the model around and the rigid body should follow the model without any issues. If you want me to make a tutorial about it let me know ^^

This is where I found out about it blenderartists.org/forum/showt…

That's weird, I've never had that problem before. What version of Blender are you using and which version of the addon are you using? ^^

umm.. I have a question, why is when I import the motion in blender my model starts to be weird, I mean I think there is something wrong with the bones, since the legs are flying everywhere and doesn't look right at all.. but when I import the motion in MMD applications it works just fine with the models :/

can you help me fix that problem??

Very useful and informative tutorial, but I have some other questions:

Is it possible to only highlight a selected part of an armature (like facial bones)? If yes, then how do you append a MMD Motion rig to the Sims 4 model?

Is there a method in how to convert facial expressions from an MMD Model to a Sims 4 Model? I've been working to convert some motions so far, and the motion works well in Blender, but when I try to add the Copy Rotation/Child of Bone Constraints to the Sims 4 Model, but all it does is distorting the face :-(

Also, how to mirror an existing motion in the X-Axis in Blender?

I asked for help on how to mirror an existing motion and I was told how to do it for the whole animation. To mirror a motion on the X-Axis select the root bone in Pose mode then scale it -1 on the X-Axis. Then insert a keyframe for the scale and it will mirror the entire motion. Then you can rotate the entire model to face the opposite direction by selecting the root bone and rotate it either -180/180 on the Z-Axis depending the direction you want them to face ^^

Oh my! Just what I was looking for! Thanks! :D (Big Grin)

Will doing this preserve the facial expressions from the motion? Because in MMD, the facial expressions become dead once you reverse the dance motion, and I'd rather not have to re-apply the facials again I think I've fainted.

I've never used a Sims 4 model so I'm not sure how to convert MMD motions and facial expressions to it. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything :(

For mirroring a motion the only way I know how to do it is frame by frame which would take a long time. you'd have to select the bones you want mirrored in pose mode and hit the double arrow button next to the copy and paste pose buttons (This button won't be there if you're not using the latest version of the addon) and it will flip the pose for you. To rotate the entire model to face the opposite direction either select just the root bone or all of the bones then rotate -180 on the Z-Axis. I couldn't find a faster way to do it ^^

This looks amazing!! I can't wait to try it. When I do this I'll come back and thank you if I can do it! If not, will it be okay if I ask you some questions? I really want to learn this stuff and be a monster at it like you and a lot of other MMD users lol

Hmm, double check that you select both the model and the armature before you click on the import button and make sure you are using the right scale ^^

If that isn't the problem what version of Blender and MMD Tools addon are you using? You can also try importing this motion bowlroll.net/file/159828 this one works for me ^^
