Bruyère lowered her pen and examined the parchment before her. She had worked on the report since her return to Rocqueburne and she wanted it to be absolutely perfect. She checked her accounting one more time, praying that the other five times she reviewed the paper before had eliminated any errors. She breathed a sigh of relief as she reached the bottom of the page. Everything added up perfectly. She lifted the parchment up to the window, enamored with the way the light gently passed through everything but the ink. Bruyère wrapped the precious document in a leather carrier and pushed her chair under her writing desk. Alexandros would return to the castle soon. Bruyère couldn’t wait to see the look on his face once he approved it for review with the Emperor. If he accepted the account of the tragic incident at Masse Manor than it was possible that the little town surrounding it would fall under the rule of the King of Rocqueburne.
