Update 3/12/2012: nowerries found out how to fix the Ubuntu Software Center colors and here are the instructions Thanks buddy ;)

Hey just read the thread and though you might like my fix for USC on dark colored themes.

"Only bug I have noticed so far is fonts unreadable in Ubunut Software Center the fix for this is to in terminal type...

sudo gedit /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css

.... and change the color value of @define-color super-light-aubergine to what ever color you want to define background."

What this means is say you want it black just change the @define-color super-light-aubergine to #000000 I'm looking into how I can add this css file into my themes so it will look to that instead of the one he mentions in /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css but until then try it it does work :woohoo:

Updated 2/17/2012: This is the completed GTK-2/3 theme. I fixed the GTK-2 theme so if you just downloaded it try again ;)

Just something I came up with, it's totally based off of adwaita I re-colored and tweaked everything. I may even add different colors I like this one because of the slider button images and the button look. I'm still learning as I go hope everyone likes it :D Also I used the window borders from of ANewStartBlood by *alecive [link]

This is one of my favorite themes , but I guess a lot of things are broken with the new update of gtk3... :o

For example some gtk3 apps like Nvidia Control settings , cairo dock  and some other applications are not adapting the theme correctly...
However gtk2 theme based apps are working fine....

well I just hope for un update...

Thanks !

Nice. Now it would be cool if the text on the Unity Panel would be brighter. But I guess you are not using Ubuntu, at all... And I, personally, don't know how to fix it. :-/ But still much better than black on black, that was on the other theme. :-) Thank you!

Yeah your right I don't use ubuntu, but I have it installed on a old computer and will look into that. I will be going through all my themes. Adjusting and applying what I've learned so far, keep watching ;)

Sweet!! that works my friend thanks for sharing. What would be really cool is if you could just add that softwarecenter.css file to whatever theme you wanted to use instead of having to manually do it. Thanks again ;)

what ever you changed to create this time from your black and black theme, google chrome no longer has the ugly gray background!!!! any chance of a update to black and black?
CraazyT's avatar
yeah I noticed that. I was just testing it more before I make changes everywhere else. I was even thinking of making this one the new back n black one. As I have learned a lot since the b n b one ;). How this one working for you?
THIRSTYGNOME's avatar
i think it looks really good. I just deleted it though and went back to black n black since i like the simpler look. Hey i know you use arch so im guessing you havent tried opening the ubuntu software center with your black n black theme. The fonts on your theme are white, which makes it hard to read the descriptions in the software center. I normally install things through terminal, so after all of this time, i just noticed!

thanks man, yeah I know about the USC look but don't know how to fix it. If I run across a fix I'll add it. maybe this one displays usc right did you try it with this one?
THIRSTYGNOME's avatar
i kinda deleted it all ready... let me re download it. btw why are you fooling around with kde? I always heard it is not as good as gnome
CraazyT's avatar
LOL!!! I use to use kde and now it just fly's and is totally tweak-able. you heard wong I use a lot of kde/qt apps probably more then gnome apps and thought I would try it out again ;) gnome just has a lot more dev's adding things mainly because of business' I think. back in the day kde was way betterthen gnome.

ahah, lol about kde. I just tried out the black widow them in USC, its still white font. I am in the process of making a sick desktop layout, better then my last one. I tweaked the black n black clear shell that you linked me so that it doesnt have the word activites, and looks that much more flush. how do you want me to credit you on your theme?
CraazyT's avatar
Dang!! just when I think I got it down still other issues haha!! oh well I like modding. Cool man yeah If you loo at my scrots I never have the activities I like it pretty clean. Just link back to my main deviant art page ;) I may release it maybe not LOL!! Gees that reminds me...I haven't made a shell theme in a long time LOL!!
