Dang!  I can't believe it, "The World's Greatest Bender" was nominated for a Daily Deviation!  More amazingly, it was *selected* as a Daily Deviation.  I suspected something when I logged onto DA earlier tonight, and there were 638 messages waiting for me.  ACK, that's more than I usually get in a couple of months.  I'm trying to respond to as many as I can, but that's just impossible.  Thanks to all you good folks out there, and special thanks to :icon^y2jenn: for nominating me!

Wait a second, aren't I the same Scrooge that was bah-humbugging everybody left and right only a few days ago?  Yeah, but now that the holidays are actually here, I have come to realize an important distinction.  I still dislike all the frantic hype and commercialism of the weeks running up to Christmas.  But Christmas *itself* is still pretty sweet.  It's great to have a couple of days to relax and not worry about work.  I've had dinner with good friends, and talked to family members from distant branches of my family tree over the telephone.  Much turkey and ham and casserole and cookies have been consumed.  And I made an apple pie!  (It...
