I'm a 30 year old from Kansas City, MO. I starting drawing at a very young age but sometime around my teens I completely lost interest in it, and my main enjoyment in life became music. Then in my early 20's I decided to try it again. I picked up a few books from the library on drawing which helped me to learn the basics of shading and what supplies I needed. Not long after that I discovered DA and was inspired by some of the amazing drawings done only in pencil and thus my journey into pencil portrait realism had begun. I guess I'm what most call self-taught since I've never attended any art classes or had any formal art training. Everything I've learned has been from experience, books or tutorials here on DA. I still have a long way to go and a lot of improving left to achieve, but I can definitely see an improvement since I first joined DA.
My main goal is to someday work with oil paints and possibly even sculpture. If I ever get the opportunity I would like to study at the Florence Academy of Art which teaches Realism in the way of the Old Masters. Since that's out of my reach right now, my goal is to improve my graphite drawings.
I take commissions for portraits as well. More information, including prices can be found on my blog listed below.
