Smell of burning wood
During a cold winter’s night;
And many, many houses one and all,
Have lit up the dark with Christmas
People rushing to and fro
Trying to get that perfect gift;
While songs of holiday cheer,
Brings happiness to all,
The perfect uplift.
The house neatly decorated
Stockings hanging on the wall;
The tree looking beautiful all around,
As we gather round to answer
Love and joy’s call.
There’s one gift I long for
It’s not wrapped in fancy paper;
Or with a tiny bow on top,
Only to be torn up and thrown away
It’s not outside in the snow
That covers the ground in pure white;
Or the many colors twinkling about,
Lighting up the night.
They are my friends who are
With me through heaven or hell;
The friendship we all carry in
Rings louder than any Christmas bells.
They’re my gift through any
Day or special occasion of the month;
We stick together, brothers, sisters,
A family all wrapped in one.
