Cannon Beach, II by coulombic Cannon Beach, II by coulombic
I think I've fixed the issues with the color-casting. Little bit of a pain in the ass, but I feel as if the color's just fine, now.

Don't worry, I'm done posting shots from Cannon Beach for a while. Maybe.

I suppose for what you are shooting the composition is pretty standard. Good. Far from stunning. The warm tones at the bottom of the pic seems out of place with the image. Like it was an artificial light source. I'm sorry to be the only person to give some negative and honest feedback. Some more processing might give the image more justice. ;)

I beg to differ about the last comment...I think this is an amazing picture, although there is not much solid objects the colors, clouds and reflections off the water on the beach is stunning.

Good picture but not quite as good as your others. It's a little out of focus and the composition could have been a little better. Despite the good light there isn't much to look at here. Like the others much better.

The reflection of the cloudscape on the beach doesn't factor into the composition to you? I can understand, if that weren't there, your rationale of this being a less-than-interesting composition, but as it stands, there is far more than just the Haystack Rock. While I don't find it to be the best composition, the reflection and damn-near-perfect symmetry certainly add something.

Also, it's not "soft." While I can understand your complaint due to the small size, it's mostly just due to a lack of web optimization. The actual image itself is tack-sharp.

Thanks, though. I honestly appreciate all thoughtful feedback, no matter what's been imparted.

It is indeed a beautiful capture and location.I might have gone for a pano, cropping off the bottom to just below the rock/cloud reflection. You might want to level the horizon,it looks a tad off going from right to left.Nice work Gabe,I didn't see the original but these colours look fine to me.

Indeed, it did. After hours and hours of rain, the sun shone, and before the beach was crowded with people walking their dogs and fathers teaching their children to fly kites, I managed to snap a few images.

The strangest thing was the temperature change. It went from 40-ish to high-60s in less than an hour. WTF?

Thanks for stopping by.

Yeah, the Oregon coast is nutty like that. Every time I've been there it's been pretty chilly. I was there in July and while it was 70 degrees up away from the tide, there was this layer of mist clinging to the water where it was probably about 50 degrees - if not colder.

There's a bit of a horizontal tilt. The breaking waves offer a contrast to the slickness of the rest of the pic. I want to be there, sink my feet in that sand.

Yeah, I fixed the tilt in other versions, but I uploaded the wrong one. Not a big deal; I'll get around to re-uploading it. It's hard to find dead-level on the beach, though, as you literally can see the curvature of the Earth if you look long enough.

Yeah, I notice that when I'm at the beach, it does the brain in (mine, anyway), so I can understand the tilt.
