I think there are a few which would be well worth pursuing further! I like the first one and the fourth from the bottom for example, but that may just be my personal color preference lol.

Thanks for the feedback Erik!

Btw did you know that your portfolio signature link goes to a handbag store?
ErikShoemaker's avatar
haha good one, thanks for the heads-up. :lmao: It seems the domain was given to someone else now. About time to update my signature.

Yeah, I had no idea you were a fashion designer too!

I never fail to surprise people.
cosmicbound's avatar
So what's the next surprise?
ErikShoemaker's avatar
Wouldn't be a surprise if I told you ;)

These probably averaged around 15mins each.

Very impressive. Usually average five to ten hours a starscape myself.

That timing for me correlates with Celestial Pneuma, at the moment.

I find starscapes very difficult to sketch, but need to go into rendering. You got that potent skill down.

Find it remarkable that there are almost no bright stars visible, though. Do you just keep the arrangement in your head until you start detailing, what with composition and vectors and all?

In these images the starfields were indeed mostly afterthoughts, like jewels strung onto the nebula structure. I often consider where the main stars would go as part of that main structure when planning pieces with thumbnails. If I am sketching/playing around, I might let the composition organically develop too -- work on some nebula [1], work on some stars [2], [1], [2]...

At any given time, because each part relates to every other as a whole within the composition, you can consider and reconsider any kind of addition or deletion.
