Carefully crafted of blue-green jadeite it shows a composite crocodile being which might represent a transformed shaman or powerful chief. Celt-form pendants of Central America generally indicated high status. Blue jadeite came from the Motagua Valley, Guatemala, and was also used by the Olmec and Maya peoples. It is characterized by its deep blue-green, translucent hue.
