- Little explanation;
In my search for love I came across these visualization exercises and such. So I tried them, only to find out I couldn't see a thing.. :/ Apparently I have what is called Aphantasia, which does explain a few things in my life so I'm glad I know now. It still sucks though.. Also I got super depressed thinking people like me can thus never get what they want/need since they can't visualize it. D: Along the way however I learned it's more about the feeling it generates than what you're actually seeing (at least that's what I got from it). They suggested you can also write about it instead, but that didn't work for me either.. so being an artist I decided, why not draw it?! :D So I did. It may not be as handy as just conjuring up an image or whatever for 5 minutes in your head, and I can't do it every day quickly, but I figure it's better than nothing. So I want to try to do one every month. I'd love to do one every week, but that's not realistic for me. I never know what day or week I'll have. Whether or not I'll be in a lot of pain or not, or if I'll be super exhausted, so one a month seems reasonable. :)

- About the image;
So first image in this 'project' is kinda special to me. We're in Santorini (Greece) on vacation (or maybe even on honeymoon? ;) ). I never make selfies, but I figured I'd be so happy that I'd want to share it with my parents, so we take this selfie and send it to them. :aww:
There's just something about those white buildings with blue roofs and doors and such.. don't ask me why, it just got a hold on me the first time I saw it. I'm not much of a traveler, but I might want to visit some day.

Aww, this is such a lovely painting! :heart:
You captured very well the characteristic feel of Greek landscapes and architecture; even more, you made it better by breathing life into it (if that makes any sense x')). I mean, I can feel the fresh air and the openness of the sky just by looking at the background. The clouds are beautiful, the rendering on the buildings is perfect, and these blue tones are candy to my eyes.
The characters look beautiful too. Their pose and expression look very real; the flow in their hair is convincing and contribute to the "fresh" feel of the artwork. Not to mention I like their clothes: this floral pattern on his shirt is dope! :D And you look so happy in this pic! :heart:

Overall a very beautiful painting. :love: In French, we'd say "Une œuvre qui respire le bonheur" (="a work that exudes happiness", but "respire" literally means "breathe", which is a better word than "exude" to describe this piece!)

Requesting this artwork in my group right away. You deserve more exposure.

Thank you very much! :D

oh! That was thanks to you then. o.o I got a request for this image to be shown in some group, and I was like "sure why not? extra exposure is always good". :D
Thanks for that! :hug:

I feel like the meaning in your art always carried a lot more weight than I think you realized no matter how you personally felt about the piece in general. =) I still go back and look at art dated WAY back in your gallery just because you're vague about what's being conveyed in it, and I try to make since of it, because that's the fun part. You drew something with a message and meaning in it, and I just try to find it. That's what always made your gallery so fun and still does. ;)

The piece is SO relaxing and beautiful here. The pose is precious and I love the outfits you're both wearing! I do honestly hope you will get to visit someday! :hug:

You are probably one of the very few that even gets there might be a meaning hidden in my art pieces. X3; I think most don't notice, or maybe don't care.
It's funny to hear that my art can provide that sort of entertainment. Find the hidden meaning! XD But I guess it's true, I do always draw stuff for a reason, there's always some feeling, message or whatever behind it. Unlike people who like only draw fanart, which is more about pleasing others, I think that kind of art lacks a meaning or a message.. I mean a fanart of a char you like every once in a while is fine. It shows your love for them. :) But I did became an artist so I could draw what I feel or to draw things I can't have or experience in real life, and to create things. ;)

Thank you very much. Ocean views and that combo of white and blue is always so relaxing to me personally. :)
Thanks, that would be pretty dang cool. :D

I think a lot of people look at art as just a simple thought slapped down on a piece of paper; but even as I was a kid, I'd look at art pieces that had say a single guy standing in a sunny wheat field with a house in the distance and nothing else for miles, and I'd seriously look at it and just question what's going on for hours/days/years. Who is this guy? Why is he there? The place looks so peaceful--is it peaceful? Does it have a darker meaning when the night comes? Is there a city or town nearby or is this his paradise that he's conjured in his dreams or is this his afterlife? Is he in solitude or happiness? Is his happiness hidden out of view inside the house or just being free? I do the same thing with photography sometimes and even make up stories in my head with simple pictures of places around the world.
That's why in a lot of your old Atlantis pieces with Coral-Chi and Knuckles, I'd do the same things. 'What lies beyond the horizon here? What happened to transpire this image? What happens after? How does the grass, water, and air feel like?' So on and so forth. I even do it to darker pieces. The dungeon picture of Atlanteans being tortured and chained, I kept thinking about what brought them there, what the rest of that place looks like. A happy, facade of a brothel (or perhaps made into an inn to hide the slave trading and torture) above ground? What were the womens' and mens' stories before they got dragged there? What are they thinking of now--their loved ones (alive or dead), their escape, how they will die? Not every character is just 'a character' to me, and not every background element is just a background element. I feel that's what makes art so fascinating no matter how it's created. Anybody can translate it, but it does make you question what's truly going on in the piece and what the person who drew it was thinking when they did it. :heart:
Haha, yeah. XD I try to guess the meaning all the time or draw more conclusions from it. ;P
I totally get what you mean. ;) I'll still do fanart as even fanart holds hidden messages for me personally given my dreams (the night bathing scene of Oreana and Ignis was from a dream and the fire opal ring Ignis wears is the wedding bands I saw we had), but I do want to try and draw more of my original stuff too when I can find the time. It's just so hard to find the motivation sometimes. x-x; Someday, perhaps. :P

Oceans are SO peaceful to me. :heart: I miss hearing the crashing of the waves at night when sleeping on vacation. :D

Wow.. that's pretty cool. :) No wonder you're so good at coming up with stories, you have such an awesome and huge imagination. :la:
I have to say.. what you do with art is what other people, especially art critics, do with actual 'art'. But I love that you do it with 'every day art'. :) You are right, each piece has a story it's trying to tell, and it is super interesting to try and figure out what it might be and to answer all the other questions you come up with, and it's awesome you try to find these. More people should do that with normal art pieces. I think if they did that they'd realize that even pieces you find here on DA are worthy of being called ART, and not just the paintings you see in museums of famous artists. XP
Well I think that and like whenever I draw Marcassin and Coraleana together it's more than just fanart. If I just draw Marcassin, yeah, fanart. But if I draw him and Coraleana together doing something, something with great meaning and feeling behind it for me, it feels more than just simple fanart. I think your images with Oreana and Ignis are the same. I guess you can't call them fully original.. but they're still more awesome and meaningful than your average fanart. X3
Really? When it comes to original stuff it's way easy for me to be motivated since it's something I really want to draw. :D I don't know what kind of original stuff you want to draw, but it might help getting more into it. Not sure how to explain it.. it's kinda like what happened with me and Kalde. :) Khyran was like my 3rd most important character, after Coraleana and Marcus, but after working on Kalde's refs and bio I really got to know him through that and I started to really like him. He was on my mind a lot which made me want to draw him more, and he kinda kicked Khyran off 3rd place.. XD;; I never thought it would happen but it did. So through working on his refs and thinking about him I got super motivated to do art of him.

I've never had the privilege to hear that, but oh that sounds so relaxing. :)

That's why I like art of all kinds--even art people could probably claim isn't all that good. Honestly, if there's an interesting story there, I want to find it. :) That's what makes art so enjoyable to me--how it can be different from person to person depending on how you want to interrupt something without the artist's help.
Yeah, lately, drawing Ignis alone is just to 'signal boost' my works on Tumblr or here. ^^; I don't like doing that because the piece feels lifeless, and I dunno.. he feels lonely that way to me. I know I could add the other guys but even then it feels like he is the most underappreciated one of the group. Also, the fandom has it's 'ship wars', and if you so much as draw the guys in duo pairs, they see it as a 'ship' and never anything just platonic. :roll:

Oreana and my OCs are the only original things I enjoy doing, but when it comes to pairings, there's only been one OC/OC pairing I truly adored for awhile and that was Layla-Ne and Wildfire. Every other pairing I've tried to make that's OC/OC, I cannot find a good connection, and Oreana/Ignis has become therapeutic in hard times lately, so I just focus on that. =) Layla'Ne will always be a favorite--especially being my blind geisha and dancer who I will move fandoms with and while I've not really gotten a chance to know my other OCs, I am sure I'll have a list of favorites and not so favorite in time. ;) Oreana's world seems to have the most OCs I love. I am glad you got to know more about Kalde and enjoy him a lot more than previously. :D That's awesome when an OC speaks to you.

Maybe one day you will. I do hope so~ :hug:

I'm always more drawn to the visual look of it and the feeling it emits, but also sometimes the story. :)
Maybe you shouldn't then? You should draw things that you want to draw and feel good to you. ..I think you also shouldn't let the 'fandom' influence you so much. I know Marcassin doesn't have one, but if he did I'd still be drawing whatever the hell I please. I'm not letting anyone determine what I can or can't draw, especially some random people. Maybe I shouldn't say this, since it is non of my business, but I hate it when people's creativity is being restricted by other people or by the urge to be popular.
Be yourself Oreana.:hug: Don't let anyone put shackles on your creativity. :heart:

That's fine. It's the same for me. :)
It's nice that Nayla-Ne is important enough for you that you'd switch fandoms with her. :aww: You should really get to know the others, maybe the reason no other OC/OC pairing worked for you is because maybe you didn't know the OCs well enough? A lot has changed for me the way I feel about some OCs after spending some time with them or thinking about the story and how they fit in. Like I said Kalde took a big place now, even maybe replacing Khyran. And two others, one of which was supposed to be very important to the story I kinda have no feelings for right now whatsoever.. ^^;
I know a kind of fun way to get to know them a bit. :) There are these memes on DA for OCs, instead of drawing it all out, you can take those memes and just write it down. Some really make you think hard how a character reacts in those (unusual) situations. X3 They also have them for couples (not necessarily romantic ones) Couples Meme

I know I shouldn't...but as of late (and maybe it's the depression or whatever) but I feel my art will never bring the response my stories do. And I am fully aware the main reason for that is because I made self-inserts a thing where everybody can be involved (including the hypocrites who have an OC and claim they don't care for OC work.. beh), but even when I wrote purely OC/Canon stuff back in the day, my writing still got more of a response than my art. It's like people are more connected to certain things in my writing than my art. ^^; What I've been thinking lately is 'why bother' anymore? Why not just hang up my hat in the public sharing of my art and just keep it to myself? ^^; Maybe I'll find more joy in doing that instead of feeling I have to share everything as I once did. When you get no feedback at all by keeping it to yourself, it always feels better than throwing it out there and getting little to nothing.. Eh.

Thanks. :heart: We'll see if I can manage. :hug:

I am not sure.. It could be true. :? There are some characters I grow a huge attachment towards that I never want them to leave me. Even Emmett Frye was a huge love of mine, and I don't think I could ever let him go completely. There's so much there, and I just adore him too much. It is still good you got a huge attachment to him. :heart: It's funny how even OCs sneak up on you out of nowhere. ;)
Thanks! I'll certainly consider it~! :hug: :heart:

Well.. I'd say do whatever works best for you, and more importantly, do what makes you feel good inside. If indeed keeping the drawings private makes you feel better, do it. Personally I can't. I have no idea why I have the need to share it, but I do. To me, there's no point in drawing it if I don't share it. Which also doesn't make sense to me since I draw loads of personal stuff anyways..^^; But hey, that's just how I work inside apparently.:dummy:
I would miss your art, I'll be honest about that. But if you feel better just not sharing it, like I said you need to do what feels good for you.:hug:

Yeah weird huh.. it's like they have a mind of their own.. >.> It's fun though, I noticed that whenever I'm like bored or in need of a friend, Kalde would just kinda pop up. X3
You don't have to. It's just I did those once for fun, and I noticed they were pretty useful tools for getting to know them better. :)

It was a good idea to draw a picture like this. And its a nice goal to do one for each month. :nod:
Its never fun to found out whats the problem and such, but yet its good you figure out a way to
handel things and it maybe was good you figured out what is troubeling you. Using your talents
to handel the situation. ;)

I really adore this pictue, I really like his shirt, its very stylish and love the colores. And you both look
so happy here, you can really feel the feeling of excitment being on vecation. I really love the flow and shine
in their haires. Its really is an adorabel picture my friend :3 :hug:

The whole idea is to feel feelings of happiness and love inside, which you would normally get through visualizing, but it worked like this too for me. :)

I have a thing for tropical prints which is why I gave him such a shirt. XD;
Thank you very much. :) :hug:

well I hope it does. It's not quite the same as visualizing it, so I hope it still has the same effect in the long run.^^;
