I'm very confused on what to do for a career for the future. I thought it would be animation, but I'm not sure anymore.
The thing is, I'm rarely fully satisfied with the work I put out there and doing animation in general gets very draining; even boring at times. I thought it was fun at first, because I didn't care what I made, as long as I was having fun.
Unfortunately, that mindset has changed.
I now see every post as a goal or competition. If the art isn't up to my personal standards, I see it as unsatisfactory and even a waste. At points I see making content as a chore that I have to drag myself through to get it done.
My standards are far too high and I know I'm so hard on myself, but honestly I don't know how to get rid of the problem.
Another issue is program use. I can't find any inexpensive programs with timelines (that work), audio support, and a nice variety of tools. I've tried Krita, but the audio playback wasn't supported; I've tried FireAlpaca, but it lacks a timeline (so everything is very difficult to sync); I've tried Pencil2D, but the program constantly crashed; and I've tried Clip Studio Paint, but there is a 24 frame limit (I have the pro version), as well as an extremely confusing timeline. I've considered OpenToonz, but it has a steep learning curve, according to what I've been told. With every software comes its downfall.
As for the paid-for programs, they are quite nice; but immaculate quality comes with a high price tag.
Animation is expensive. I don't want me, or my folks, whipping out their wallets for something that I don't find fun anymore, especially if I find myself avoiding it or not using it due to a lack of time. I do not want to pirate software either, it makes me feel guilty as hell.
I wish it wasn't this way, I really do.
Most of this "rant" applies to animation, not art. Hopefully you will still see me posting art on here or Instagram (@/cookiesncrimeart), but animation could be scarce for awhile.
Who knows? Maybe I'll come back to it in a few months! However, as of today, animated content will plummet in frequency (as if it wasn't rare enough, ha).
Thank you for reading this all the way through, I do appreciate it, and I hope you understand. <3
Any art style advice or suggesting ways to improve is greatly welcomed by me.
Thank you again.
