I've been told over the past year that I've been underselling my art (I dunno why, because really, I'm surprised anyone buys this stuff at all). But hey, I figure it couldn't hurt to bump prices just a bit, right?

NOTE:
If you're not sure what I will/won't draw, please look through my gallery first to get an idea! If you're still not sure, feel free to ask!

GENERAL PRICING QUOTES:

Single character sketch w/simple color: $20
Additional sketched characters: +$10

Sebastian Moran by ConnerCoon   Showing Some Skin by ConnerCoon

Single character inked w/ color: $30
Additional inked characters: +$20

Final Fantasies - Fenrir by ConnerCoon   Happier Times by ConnerCoon

Props, special effects, backgrounds: +$5 and up depending on complexity

Fried Calamari by ConnerCoon   Entertaining the Royal-Tea by ConnerCoon
All About that Bass by ConnerCoon   Final Fantasies - Brock by ConnerCoon

I'm willing to draw both OC's and characters from popular media.

Please send me a note with your commission idea and I'll let you know how much it'll cost. I'll show you each phase of the process for approval before moving on, and you don't pay until just before the picture's finished. Then I'll email or dropbox you the full-res version!

If you have references for your idea, fantastic! This includes body-types, poses, outfits, colors, etc. The more references I have, the better your commission will look! This is a first-come, first-serve basis, but I will try to get to everyone. Please be patient!
Hey, I just wanna thank everyone who's been following me recently (and those of you who've been following me since waaaay back when!). It's your comments and support that really keep my energy up when it comes to my art! So now, on top of that, I've decided to try out a new Ask the Characters tumblr ( connercoon.tumblr.com/ ) to see if we can't all have a little fun answering your questions with fun sketches like some pretty cool artists I've seen. Please, don't be shy! This'll either be amazing, or a big flop, but hey, it's a great excuse to keep doodling, right?
The submissions are in, and a winner's been decided! But before I make the announcement, I'd like to thank everyone who participated (and those who intended to participate) for humoring me in this experimental endeavor. Not exactly the turn out I expected, admittedly, but this -was- a bit different than some of the other contests that involve people writing in their entries, or simply throwing money at the screen. In any case, as Jose would say, muchas gracias!

Now, for the winner of this quirky little contest...

:icondracowhale:'s entry, which can be seen here: www.furaffinity.net/view/15696… ! I really liked how he kept the idea of El Toro's original costume in mind, but changed the color and design to keep it interesting, and added the lucha mask! I'll contact you about your prize, buddy!

Not to be overshadowed, I'd like to thank the other participants:

:iconflamingfirefury:'s entry here: www.furaffinity.net/view/15612… (I really like that Toro 'T' design)
:icondmshade:'s entry right over here: www.furaffinity.net/view/15641… (Gotta appreciate that effort in that embroidery), and
:iconluprand:'s drawn-from-scratch entry here: www.furaffinity.net/view/15723… (this makes me laugh every time I see it, in a really good way!)

Again, thank you everyone who participated and wanted to participate. If I have another contest, I promise to make it a little more accessible for everyone!
UPDATE: Since it looks like a lot of folks are struggling with their entries, I'm going to extend the deadline another week, to the end of FEBRUARY 15TH! If you have any questions, please send me a note, or reply to this journal!

Just posting this up in a journal, just in case! If you haven't seen it already, I'm holding a costume contest for a new design for El Toro, the reference art for which can be found at the El Toro Costume Contest!. The winner will get a FREE PICTURE OF EL TORO IN HIS NEW COSTUME WRESTLING THE DESIGNER'S CHARACTER OF CHOICE! And here are the rules, again posted for convenience and better coverage:

EL TORO IS A LUCHADORE SUPERHERO. Okay, it's not so much a rule as it is a fact. Just keep it in mind when designing!
DO NOT REMOVE THE NOSE RING! For reasons.
THOSE ARE EL TORO'S FEET, NOT HOOF-SHAPED SLIPPERS. They stay too.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE HORNS. The dude can get in an out of shirts with collars using cartoon and superhero physics. Don't worry about designing around them.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE HAIRCUT, FEEL FREE TO CHANGE IT. El Toro's kinda vain about his hair, but if it doesn't fit with his new costume, you can get rid of it.

MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE A FRONT AND BACK. While I'm sure not many would mind if El Toro ran around with his backside bare, it's still a bit embarrassing! Provide designs for both his front and back so we get the whole picture!
INCLUDE NOTES (OPTIONAL). Notes can help show why specific costume pieces were chosen, and can also include information not readily obvious from the picture alone!
POST IT TO dA AND USE THE KEYWORD ELTOROCOSTUMECONTEST. Be proud of your submission! Plus, this means I'll be able to quickly find the entries when the deadline rolls around.
SEND ME A LINK. Juuuust in case you mess up the keyword, or forget to use it. Don't want you accidentally left out after all your effort!
DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 15TH. After that, i'll review the entries and inform everyone of a winner as soon as I decide!
HAVE FUN. Well, duh. But seriously, you can make your design look however you want. Feel free to just fart around and make him wear a pink tutu for laughs. I can't guarantee that a tutu will win, but hey, hilarity!

So, everyone got all that? Great! If you're having trouble and need to see an example, it here at the El Toro Costume Contest Example. Hope it helps!
Sorry -again- for being so quiet, guys, but hey, good news! I've been getting myself ready to move in with a couple of friends over in Lafayette, Louisiana. My part of the house payments will be less than a third what I'd have to pay over here in California, and it'll get me out of the house on my own again, so woo! I'll be driving, but I should get there and set back up some time this weekend. Hopefully the new location will get me off my fat duff and back to the things I should be doing!

My sincerest apologies to everyone who's been waiting on me to finish those darn commissions, of course. I remember now why I stopped doing them! I will finish those for you all, though, and I can't thank you guys enough for your infinite patience! *slaps self a few times* Gonna get pumped, gonna get out there, gonna d things! ALL THE THINGS! And probably end up getting fat. That's what people in Louisiana do, right?
Okay, yes it was an April Fool's journal entry. I'm not going anywhere, I'm not taking down my art. But there was still a little truth in it. It has been four months since I posted anything, and I really am sorry to everyone I still need to do something for. I can't tell you how appreciative I am for your apparently infinite patience; you -will- see your commissions from me, and soon! Heck I may even force myself to do more, considering recent (non-prankish) events.

THIS IS IMPORTANT, AS IN ALL-CAPS-I-WANT-YOU-GUYS-TO-READ-THIS-IMPORTANT

For those that don't know, I'm currently living with family. It's not ideal, but considering housing costs here in southern California, it's what I can manage at the moment. I'd -love- to move out, so... who needs a roomie? This isn't the most conventional place to ask, but I figure I'd give it a shot since, if you're watching me for my art, we're probably of like minds, right? Better than asking on those other websites where I'll be likely to get someone who might not approve of the furry doodles, etc.

BONUS: I'm quiet (introverted, really, but totally willing to do social things if it's with friends), a gaming/comic nerd, gay, have a sense of humor, in the process of renewing my optician's license which will certainly aid in helping me get a good-paying job wherever I end up, have a safety net of cash in a savings account just in case, and I'm willing to go to -you-. That's right! I will drive across country with my stuff if I have to! Also, I'm a pretty cool guy, I swear!

So, if you need a roomie wherever you may be, or you plan on moving somewhere and need an extra rent-paying body, hit me up! Seriously, let's talk details. I could use a change of scenery and roommates that can not only encourage me to emerge from my room once in a while, but encourage me on more creative things, too! I mentioned I draw things, right?

Thanks in advance, all, and happy April!
...Has it seriously been that long since I last posted something? And in the middle of a commission series too, jeez...

I'm sorry guys, I really am. I guess I'm not cut out for this whole artist thing. I'd love to be one of those guys who has something new in your inbox every couple of days, but I can only manage to get my art mojo working for me for a couple of months before I tire out and drop off the map again. It's depressing, it's sad, and it's not fair to you guys, though at this point I'm sure you've given up on my art just as much as I have.

So I'm resigning myself to be just one of those people who just lurks and admires all the awesome art other people can do better and in a much more timely manner. To the people who commissioned me and have yet to see anything (four months? That's no excuse. Why haven't you guys been busting down my door to get your money back by now?), I will be returning your money very soon. To the people who for some reason were hoping to commission me, I'm sorry, but I think you'll find plenty of great artists around here who -will- take your money, and make it worth it, too. For the few who actually watch for my art, thanks so much; it was a good run, but it's officially over. Seeing my art just makes me feel ill inside now, so I'm getting rid of all of it. If you liked a particular doodle, save it to your hard drives, because come this weekend, it'll all be gone. I'm clearing my gallery just like I thrashed my personal art files already. Ugh.

I really, really wish I could be a better, more responsible person. See you around, maybe.
So it's my birthday tomorrow. (Woo!) and I thought a fun little idea would be to offer a free sketch of your choice to the person who can correctly guess how old I'm gonna be. It'll be exciting and educational! Just comment below with your guess, and I'll let you guys know who won tomorrow night! As for me, I'll be working 9-5 and then having sushi followed by brownies. Yayyyy.

[EDIT] A lot of people got close, (probably because I posted my age in a journal entry waaay back somewhere and math happened) but brokendestiny  brokendestiny over on FA pinned the tail on the donkey with his guess of 32 years old not twenty-five minutes after I posted! Congrats, man! I'll be contacting you! Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!
That went faster than I expected! Thanks, guys! You'll see these soon!

Yeah.... The title sums it up! So hey, how's it going? Anyone got any requests?

EDIT: Haha, I guess I should have been more clear; when I asked if anyone had a request, it's easier if you also tell me what the request is. I may be many awesome things, but psychic I ain't!
Do you like giant robots? Do you like kaiju? Do you like movies that look like a live action anime?

Then you're not gonna like Pacific Rim.

YOU ARE GOING TO HUMP ITS LEG AND BEG TO HAVE ITS BABIES.

It is that awesome. ESPECIALLY in 3D. -So- worth the cost of the ticket!

I was a bit surprised that what story you glean from the trailers (giant monsters emerging from the Pacific Ocean, humanity builds giant robots piloted by two people with merged minds to kick said monsters' collective asses) is completely covered before the title even shows up. But then it gets awesome. -So- awesome. I won't spoil it, but I -felt- for these characters, from the hard-ass guy in charge to the stuffy number-crunching scientist dude, and all the bad-ass mech pilots. God, those Jaegers were so awesome. I want one. Anyone wanna build me one? I will be your love slave in between kicking giant mutant monster ass. Honest!

Also, stay for the mid-credits extra scene. Hehehe.
Vegas! Woo! That's where I'll be for the weekend, so if you don't hear from me, -I'm not dead.-

-Probably.-

A lot can happen in Vegas, but I'm preeeeetty sure this is gonna be the most whitebread trip there in the history of ever, so no real worries! It's my friend :iconcrowmagnon:'s first time there, and I agreed to tag along. We're pretty cautious guys, so don't expect any incredible tales of binge drinking, gambling away tons of cash, hookers galore, drug deals gone wrong, kidnapped exotic animals, cop car joyrides, or burying anybody out in the desert.

Don't expect them, because what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?
Okay, so this is really bothering me, but because of the hour, there's not many others to talk to about this, so I'm just posting it up here to get it out there.

A short bit ago, I was talking with a good friend over IMs. We dick around, laugh it up, and sometimes talk about things that bother us, like politics or religion or big business, etc, etc. As far as I'm aware, we've never had a 'shouting match' and are open-minded enough to accept each other's viewpoints if we happen to disagree. Tonight, I think I made my friend angry, and I have no idea why.

It concerns that new game, Game Dev Tycoon, and its developer's way of discouraging piracy by having in-game pirates cause you to lose money, but only if you downloaded the game for free. In my opinion, I thought it was clever. My friend was one of the people that had downloaded this version of the game, though, and was angered with the developers when I let them know what would happen. My friend said that they were only playing the game for free to see if it was worth paying money for, but was now discouraged by what they felt was a dick move on the developer's part.

While I'm glad to know there are people out there who will drop money for something they've already played for free, I let my friend know that there's probably just as many people who wouldn't bother, because hey, free game, right? You can't be sure if someone will pay for a game or not after they've already played through it, so why not only give them enough of the game experience to make that decision without giving them everything? Of course, the companies should be pumping out quality games worth the money anyway, but sometimes they don't, and round and round it goes.

I'll be honest: I'm one of those dick people who, if I were to be given a free movie or video game and was able to experience it in its entirety, I'd see no reason to want to spend money on it after the fact. Now, I don't actively go out of my way to get things for free, mind you (except chocolate, maybe, but that's a different story). I pay for my movies and games and books and  everything else like most consumers do, in the hope that what I'm paying will be worth the experience. Sometimes I'm disappointed, other times not. It really sucks when I'm out sixty bucks for a game I thought would be awesome and it turns out to be garbage, but I learn my lesson and pay more attention to reviews for that next game I wanna buy.

My dad is an animator and cartoon show director, and also votes for the Academy Awards. Because of that, he gets sent tons of free movies to review and screen. Sometimes, as a family, we'll all sit down together to watch one of the latest movies that hasn't come out on DVD yet. And after watching one of those movies, I usually have no desire to actually pay money to see it in the theater or buy the DVD afterward. Why bother, if I've already experienced it? That's why I have no problems with gaming companies putting in glitches or programs that only let you experience part of the game in hopes you'll pay for it to see the whole thing. Heck, gaming demos are perfect for that, aren't they?

Anyway, when I mentioned that not everyone pirating a video game was intending to pay money for it afterward, my friend felt I was taking a verbose potshot at them and disconnected. I'm not sure if my friend was hurt that I didn't take their side, or if they thought I felt they weren't actually going to pay for the game if they had been able to play the whole thing (which I don't! I'm sure they would have!), but it's driving me nuts now because I wasn't trying to hurt their feelings, but I can't be sure I'm not some moron who 's got a skewed viewpoint of the world and I've been spouting nonsense.

I really hope it was just a misunderstanding. I like having friends. Losing one of them because of something stupid I said will keep me up all night.
Well, that was fun! Managed to get through all twelve pics without too much of a problem! I may have to do something similar next year. Meanwhile, there's only seven days left until we start 2013 and I spend the next two weeks writing 2012 on everything that needs a date. You guys know what I'm talking about, right?

Anyway, I've been considering this next question for a long time now, but I'm curious to see what my watchers have to say about it... In my last doodle, Conner's pretty big, right? Well, it seems to me that quite a few people think of him as about that size, anyway. So... what should I do? Keep Conner as a skinny raccoon that sometimes gets large? Or make that largeness his default look? Keep in mind that I do still like the thought of him going on action-y adventures, but who's to say a big guy can't be badass?

Ah, and something that just occurred that I thought everyone should know, FenBlack was sweet enough to insist he pay me ten dollars for the art I drew. As I'd mentioned, the art was free, but this struck me as awfully nice of him and makes him deserving of an extra orange or something in his stocking this year. Maybe I should set up some sort of 'donation jar'?

Oh, and before I forget, <insert generic holiday well-wishing here>!
Haha, okay, okay, I get it. I forgot not a lot of people have money to spare for the holidays, which has got to be why I've only had one person take me up on these $10 commissions, right?

So, they're now FREE! Woo. It's just an excuse to doodle, anyway.

NEW RULES:

-Twelve slots available.
-First come, first serve.
-Comment below if you want in. Give me one or two characters you'd like to see, and references if available. They can be your characters, a popular character you like, or someone else's character! (What a nice gift!)
-The theme of these pics will be entirely up to me. I'm doing this for free, after all!
-This is also being posted on FurAffinity, so these will likely go fast!
-The pics will be posted starting Dec 14

2) Rangethebeagle (FA)
3) Xylen (FA)

10) Tracose (FA)

Yeah, I thought those would go fast.
I know, I know. I said that commissions caused me anxiety, but I've been feeling pretty good about how I've been managing my art, and think I can open myself up for a dozen for the holidays, so here we go!

RULES:

-The commissions will be SINGLE-CHARACTER and COLORED for $10, and will be holiday-themed, but their specific nature will be a secret (hence the title)!
-There are TWELVE available slots.
-You have 48 hours to elect yourself for TWO specific slots (1 and 6, 9 and 12, etc). This is important!
-I will select the winners (at random) for each slot on the NIGHT OF THE 10th.
-If you are selected for one commission slot, you will be disqualified from your second choice.
-Once you are selected, get back to me ASAP with the character and reference (and also the money through Paypal, por favor!)
-If you don't get back to me, well, Santa will put you on the Naughty List for wasting someone else's opportunity! And put coal in your stocking, probably.

All clear? Good! Then let's go-ho-ho!
I GIVE YOU... ART. And me. Again.

But more importantly, art! Everyone loves art, right? Of course you do. There's just gonna be a few changes 'round these parts.

First of all, as some of you may have noticed, I tend to choke when it comes to commissions. Everything rolls along fine for a month or so, and then... boom. I crash and burn and I feel so guilty I don't show my art-face for... god, has it been a year already? Eesh.

So anyway! NO MORE COMMISSIONS. Sorry! I'm gonna just roll with whatever strikes my fancy for now. But hey, I'm still open to suggestions from you guys! If you come up with something that tickles the fancy, I may just draw it for you, free of charge!

Which doesn't mean I won't accept moneys, though. If you feel like donating to the FEED THE CONNER foundation, I'll gladly accept whatever you wanna toss into my paypal account ( connercoon2000[at]yahoo.com ). The art I do, however, is done without the expectation of being paid. I'm doing this because I like to draw!

So, hey! Glad to see you all again! I hope you enjoy what's coming as much as I will!
May? Seriously, May was my last journal update? This is why I don't FaceBook or Twitter or Twoot or... Wait, can you use 'FaceBook' as a verb? I'm sure someone has, by now. Anyway, where was I?

Oh, right, May. It's been a while since then, eh? Five whole months or more! Talk about art block, sheesh. But as you guys may have noticed, I've managed to get over that by posting a picture for every day in October! Gotta say that was incredibly satisfying, if only a little tiring! And now that it's November, I'm gonna jump on the Thanksgiving bandwagon a little early and thank everyone who voted, commented, faved, and watched my little corner of DA over the past month. You really know how to make someone feel special, guys! THANKS!

If anyone's curious, I looked through my gallery statistics for the top five favorite October series pics, and...

1) Day 9, Dumbo - 9 favorites, 174 views
2) Day 4, Sly Cooper - 9 favorites, 132 views
3) Day 29, Ash (a personal favorite) - 9 favorites, 113 views
4) Day 31, Pumpkin - 9 favorites, 102 views
5) Day 25, Link - 8 favorites, 172 views

Again, thank you guys so much for the support!

But now, to the title at hand, huh? COMMISSIONS! Yes, I know I tried this way back when at the -beginning- of the year with little to show for it, but my sole consolation is that I hadn't made anyone pay for anything yet! No harm, no foul, then? Can I request a mulligan? Do-over? Backsies? Well, now that I've gotten everyone's attention from that month o' fun, I'm gonna try this AGAIN. I'm feeling good about my art, and it seems most of you folks like it, too, so...!

Before we get started, I'm adding a bit of a bit of a twist to these; a theme, if you will. Why? Because it's fun, that's why!

ALL COMMISSIONS MUST BE SIX WORDS LONG

That's right! Six words! No more, no less! It can be a description, or a concept, or a quote, but I'll only accept those that are SIX WORDS LONG. Examples?

"Friend, myself driving convertible to beach."
"Hipster coyote playing three card monte."
"Beach party on Sea of Tranquility."
"Laughing hyena in opium enhanced dream."
"Muscle-otter doing handstand, failing hilariously."
"Too little, too late. Why me?"
"Conner refuses to draw porn? Damn!"

NOTE: My take on hyphenated words: If one of the two sides of the hyphen can't be a word on its own, the whole thing is considered one word. (i.e. re-enact, re-establish)

Get the idea? Good! Now, on to

Man, you guys remember that silly resolution I made? the one where I said I was gonna doodle every day? Hoo! Boy, if art was a gym, I'd be the couch potato playing video games munching on candybars... Well, that's mostly true, anyway.

I'm kicking my own butt, though. Gonna get these commissions going, get 'em out to the folks expecting them... And unless more come in, well, I suppose I'll just sketch whatever, yeah? I have so many ideas, and I've had so little energy/drive/heart to do any of it... Is this artist's block? Bah. I hate it. I wanna become one of those household names in furry art, someday; not gonna get there by not doodling, right? Maybe I'll throw out a sketch-suggestion journal, or something when I'm ready. that'd be fun, right? People would participate in that, right?

ALL COMMISSION REQUESTS MUST HAVE THEME MUSIC!

That's right! Caspslock and everything! So what's this mean? Have you ever listened to a really good song, I mean a -really- good song, and suddenly become inspired? Did an image pop into your head? A story? That's what I'm talking about! So along with a brief desciption of what you'd like (reference pictures/links are welcome!) let me know what song should be the theme! If you have a link to it somewhere on the internets, so much the better! REMEMBER, THE MUSIC YOU PICK WILL INFLUENCE HOW I DRAW YOUR COMMISSION! Sound good? Good!
