Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo: A review
As with last year, I started this before Christmas and then returned to it once I finished Lonely Castle in the Mirror. The lure of Christmas books was too great once more! However, a close friend of mine had read this trilogy before me and highly recommended this particular book. She considered it the best. I trust my friend’s judgement a lot, but would my tastes be too different, especially given that the first book didn’t quite win me over?
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo is the last in her Shadow and Bone trilogy following on a couple of months after the end of the previous book. After the big battle at the end of Siege and Storm, Alina, having used merzost (or magic that brings life from death) for the first time is in a weakened condition. It has taken a lot of time for her to recover from her injuries, although she is still exhausted and the light barely comes to her. This is in part because she is now in the White Cathedral run by the Apparat, who seeks to make her Sankta aka

COR Nuzlocke Chap 10: Prepare for lots of water!
Unlike last month, we spent more than a single day in Greenleaf. Something about how lush and vibrant this place was reminded me of Eterna Forest, a place no one reading this will recognise. Just imagine a dense forest filled with Pokémon and you’ll likely get the right image. However, there was some actual strategy involved with my decision to stay here for longer.
The other Kingdom of the South was Fontaine, and with three grass type Pokémon in our army the odds were in our favour. However, I wanted to be confident enough that we could obtain victory. It might be over-cautious of me, but the fiery battle of Ignis and the flag capturing of Greenleaf made me aware that I couldn’t take anything for granted. Fontaine would likely have some sort of battlefield mechanic in their favour, likely to do with water. Maybe something to do with bubbles or water guns? The more grass types we had therefore, the far likelier our chances of victory.
I said as much to Oichi, although I did stress

RF:SC-Wedding event
(It’s the day of the wedding. The sun is shining brightly, regardless of the season, and everyone is ready. In the plaza a single strip of long white cloth has been laid out in the centre, with people standing either side of it. At the front a trellised arch made of seasonal flowers hangs over Albinous, the griffon guardian of the island. In front of him is the groom, the man about to get married. He is dressed a simple white suit with a waistcoat of deep forest green, bordered with gold thread. His gaze isn’t on the setting though, but in the sky as he watches a flock of birds fly past.Suddenly some music starts, from an old machine owned...

Tarot Transformation Epilogue
Shadow stared in horror, first at Michael who had not left her side, then at the two who had betrayed her all those years ago. If she was still a shadow Lugia she could have defeated them easily, but here she was a pathetic human with only the power to change other humans by giving objects energy… somehow… and it would take too long to transform Michael. She was certain using her power on either Zeena or Azad wouldn’t work: Shadow had transformed Zeena long ago into a Mawille as part of her experiments and Azad had formerly been one of her assistants, a Sableye, who upon learning that she kept her experiments after transformation for her ‘studies’, had released everyone alongside Zeena. She had learnt of a greater force that had then accepted Zeena and Azad into transforming others for some purpose, decided to undermine them by fighting Legendries with her powers, which also got their attention. Shadow had once thought that defeating them would result in learning and confronting the

Factory of Runes Diamond Tormentlocke Summary
(Obviously this summary contains spoilers! This is for those who wish to jump into the sequel without having to read over 100 chapters.)
Runa awakens with no memory in the rain but is found by Barry. In order to discover her origins, Runa leaves her caretaker Dawn and becomes a Pokémon trainer alongside Barry in the Sinnoh region. She gets her starter, Raguna the Turtwig, and agree to help Professor Rowan with his research into evolution, by seeing if changing each action each turn in battle results in any evolution changes (thus making the run a Tormentlocke).
Runa managed to get her first catches, with the most notable being Aden the Starly, Julia the Magikarp and Bismark the Shinx. The group are asked by Runa what their dreams are, so that she can help them achieve it alongside her own. Raguna wants to be a farmer, Aden a cool leader, Julia a beauty idol and Bismark a champion. This last dream goes unfulfilled: Runa’s first battle with Barry sees Bismark lose his life to his own

Painting a Problem (Shiny Smeargle Tf)
Alola was a vast and varied set of islands, but there weren’t many households that looked as modest as the one owned by Lisa Amon. A beautiful garden was situated out back, while inside was fairly non-descript but filled with plenty of comfort. This might have taken a visitor aback, had they only known the bare basics of what she looked like: a Johto immigrant of blonde hair, Caucasian lineage and brown eyes, and a distant relative of a certain Harriet that also lived in Alola. Lisa was, in fact, Prime Minister of Alola. She had been elected to the role 2 years ago, and many had agreed she had done a lot of good within that time. Unemp...

NOCT3 Epilogue
The consequences hadn’t been as severe as Cecilia imagined, but it had still been horrible to see.She thought about this as she walked through Pannep’s prison, following silently behind the guard. After the light from the moonblast had quelled, Cecilia had seen several things. She had seen Oshima crumbled, back against the rocks he had emerged out of, one of his wings trailing uselessly on the ground. She had seen Delmarva panting and making her way slowly to her. She had seen Damiana and her Gardevoir rush forward towards Emy. She had seen Pacivima and the Mega-Tyranitar look towards the Gardevoir, posed but still ready for battle. The ma...
