Blink-DnD character

Description

I have been waiting so loooooong to submit this, but I promised myself I wouldn't until the campaign was over, because I knew I'd want to say a lot. Here we are now.

So yes, I have gotten in Dungeons and Dragons. I was interested before: I stumbled on a couple of DnD campaigns (one of which I can't remember but it was homebrew, the other was Critical Role), but I knew no one locally who would play. Cue :iconexotoxicimpulse-rp: mentioning a friend doing a campaign and if I was interested. That was a wholly different one (an evil short campaign that lasted roughly 7 sessions) but it gave me the bug. I'm still in the middle of drawing my character for that so more on that at a later date. I then got roped into a modern campaign, but sadly schedules stopped it early on. The DM for that one made a new campaign, which led to me making this little bug...

Before I get into the character itself here's a brief synopsis of the campaign, called Insetto, which was a homebrew involving bug races. The players were recruited by a Lord to stop a cult in a town, only for said cult to actually not be a cult. Instead, they were trying to create a cure for a plague that was going around. We return, only to be betrayed, told we were with the cult and traitors and go on the run, all while trying to get ingredients for said cure and stopping the real baddy: a drow and her orc cult that were trying to get everyone to have an 'endless dream'.

Blink is a moth aka falena monk (way of the open hand) and joined the mission only as a recent replacement: her mentor was supposed to go but he died (not due to the plague, but illness and old age). At a young age, a curious Blink set foot outside of home, found a 'monster' and ran for her life, ending up on the opposite side of the city. Her mentor saw this and offered to tutor her, seeing potential for the young one. Her parents who ran a tailor business were happy to have her join, but the incident left Blink very skittish and fearful. Blink worries about literally everything, most of all death, and only punches or whacks things as a reaction to danger. She cares deeply for others but has a lack of confidence. Over the course of the campaign, Blink found strength in protecting her friends and ended up less a worrier. She also discovered that the monster she saw was real: it was a giant wasp made of blood and honey and was being used by the orc cult as a weapon (I left what the monster was, including whether it was real or just a child seeing things, to our DM, and it was such a surprise). After the campaign finished, she returned to her family, occasionally adventures with her new friends, took over the tutorship her mentor left and fell in love with a kindly noble lady Soleanna (NPC) who had helped her family while she was gone (Blink is Bisexual). Blink is based on a white ermine moth, and has a veil because light hurts her eyes, which also has a moon emblem because she is a believer in the Goddess of the moon.

The only drawback to the campaign was getting up at 3/4am in the morning. That's it! Everyone was nice and understanding, and we had many epic moments... and much laughter. Honestly some of the situations we got ourselves in I think I'll remember for a long time, including:

-The ranger using a fire bug (which we thought was cute) to interrogate a cult suspect... by spraying acid through their ear using said bug (which removed cute very quickly!). Ranger sadly had to leave early during the game, but I still remember that!
-Being stuck in a ghost town where wild magic happened, but it was the same wild magic rolled so individuals levitated in place for a time and a treasure could be found in a random place for 1hr (we never found the random place).
-Setting light to a building with us stuck inside, with one of the paladins (there was two and this one was Exo's character) making a hole through the wall to escape... and my character jumping out a window and cut herself
-A heist to sneak into a noble house during a ball failing really badly, resulting in us being discovered early, a multitude of guards, one of the paladin's threatening a noble and chaos (my character was unconscious through most of it!). Got two new players though!
-The first time the rogue used telepathy: 'Ok, don't shout or scream' 'AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HEAD!'
-Tearing down a monarchy in the ant city and calling the queen an idiot.
-The wizard leaving his bound mentor on the floor of his room after we discovered he sent assassins to kill us, preventing him from using the bed to sleep or even getting a toilet break.
-Shoving the cleric into one of the paladin's bag of holding so we could get everyone across a bridge, leading to the term 'Shebag' (a combination of bag and cleric's name Sheddros, who was :icondr-insean:'s character).
-All the crack shipping (so many ships were made and none of it was serious... I felt it almost became a game of how many crazy ships can we make!)
-The moment I'll remember most: going through a cave system with a door. Rather than, you know, searching for a key, try and unlock the door... we set it on fire. What should have been a short session of stealth and gradually attacking enemies turned into 3 sessions where all the guards were alerted, and we had the longest battle ever. Sometimes fireball is not the answer to everything! It meant the cleric learnt the secret art of dodging while concentrating on spirit guardians though!

There are probably other moments I've forgotten, but maybe others will remind me of them? I plan to do a group picture at some point, but it's going to take a while. As for if and when I DnD again, that also won't be for a while (my irl work has gotten super chaotic!). Still, I enjoyed it very much, and Blink is going to hold a very special place in my heart.
