What did you get up to last week? How are you measuring your progress in terms of success and goals? The work you're putting in, is it helping you learn and grow or are you just doing things your own way and hoping one day it'll stick?
Your method of approach isn't as relevant as how hungry you are to reach your goals. Deviantart is a home for some 25+ millions members and we all have one thing in common, we are all creative. How do you then take the leap and stand out from the crowd? How do you tell the world you're the one they should buy into and listen to?
Building relationships is one way of doing that! You might've heard the saying, 'its not what you know but who you know that matters in this line of work'. There is some truth in that line. Let say you're an Art Director who is working on the biggest game the world has yet to see, you have the money, you have the script, you know exactly what you want out of this venture and you just need a few artist who can help you pull this one off. Who would you look for? Chances are you'd look for someone who you know, someone who is talented, but also has touched base with you in the past so you know they are an asset to have on the team. If we start to think that way from the get go as we practise, we'll see that there is more to the whole situation then the technical abilities alone. You have to build a network, help, teach etc to be in the know.
Of course, there is million ways of getting noticed and this is just one of them. If you're an extrovert personality this will be a walk int he park for you, but if you're not then start taking a mini step at a time to nudge you in the right direction. Submitting work to groups like this is just that first step. Essentially you're saying that now I'm ready to share my work with the world outside my comfort zone and it is okay if the response is not always positive.
The intro for this FF stretched out slightly outside our usual paragraph however, being a part of the art community it is important that we share and talk about aspects that we are all dealing with. For now, enjoy the selected pieces of art work:
So little is being said in this piece and yet so much is imagined by the mind. Is the colours telling us about the mood felt by these traders or the danger approaching? Whatever the case, this is a beautifully painted concept which leaves a lot for the imagination. Great going TacticsOgre
She is just straight up cute, if you meet with a relatives kid, or of a friend you’ll realise that even at a very early age kids are curious about life and have no fear in exploring new territories. This character is no exception. You can tell a lot about the curious, mischievous nature of this little girl and the shenanigans she’s up to. The detail on the dress is also very traditional which sets this character apart from the 1000’s flooding this website.
You know when you have an itch to create something out of nothing, the urge to turn the nearest peace of clock or a radio into a all living space. This appears to be the outcome of such an event. At first glance SC4V3NG3R will have you believe that it is just a plain old object but then ‘BOOM’ it hits you with all the details and forethought. Clever concept!
Its like a Bat-mobile with a cool twist to it. You can either be the spectator or the passenger of this car, and your life will most likely depend on the answer you choose. If you’re on the outside looking in, chances are you’ll likely get hit.
A very high paced intense scene depicting a fight in action. Speed as you know is often cheated by using blur, but TED-MX chose wonderfully painted swirls to draw the eye into the centre of the action. Such a clever way of killing two birds with one stone.
Have a wonderful week,
