Disappointment and Reflections on Daily Deviations I’ve been on DeviantArt for 17 years now. Seventeen years of creating, improving, experimenting, and sharing my work with this community. And yet, I have never received a Daily Deviation. Over time, I’ve learned not to chase awards… but I have to admit: seeing some of the recent DD selections has left me feeling discouraged. Not out of jealousy, but because some featured pieces seem far from representing the best of what this community can offer. I deeply respect every artist’s effort, no matter their level. But it’s hard not to feel a sense of disappointment when works that appear rushed, technically weak, or lacking originality receive massive visibility, while other artists often far more dedicated, creative, or skilled remain completely unnoticed. This isn’t meant as an attack. It’s meant as a call for reflection. Daily Deviations should be a showcase of DeviantArt’s strongest qualities: diversity, quality, creativity, innovation.
