That fixes two issues (though I didn't notice the Frequent/All applications thing until I switched to a theme that was made for GNOME Shell 3.8) but unfortunately it doesn't fix the workspaces or the message tray in GNOME Shell, which no longer work with the code for version 3.6. I'm sure there are probably other issues as well (notably some odd shadowy borders showing up in places in GTK 3 applications with GTK 3.8...) that will also need to be addressed before I worry about switching back to Faience. I'm sure Tiheum is working on it (at least, I hope he is, on and off whenever possible at least...), so I'll just wait for the update (if one is forthcoming...).
